Chapter 9

[After School]

"Ooh, let's hang out tonight!" Arthur says as you smile.

"Sounds great!" You exclaim as you sling your backpack over your shoulders.

"I don't think so. Don't you have a ton of work to finish?" Chandler asks as you give him a smile.

"It can wait, it's my first day back!" You say with a smile as he sighs.

"Whatever you say, Y/N." He replies as you walk through the doors of the school.

"I'm thinking Cakebells, how about you? You can also get your work done!" Luke asks while walking up next to you, shoving Chandler behind the three of you along with Duke and McNamara.

"Perfect. You reply with a smile.

"Y/N! Wait up!" You can hear Aaliyah and Victor shout out as you stop in your tracks. You immediately turn around and wave.

"What's up guys?" You ask them as they join the small group.

"Oh, nothing much. Except for the fact that I'm now enrolled in this school for the time being." Victor says with an apologetic smile.

"Ooh, exciting! Did you get your class schedule yet?" You ask him as he shakes his head.

"I'm going to get it tomorrow." He replies as another voice makes it into your earshot.

"Victor! There you are!" You turn around to see Rae with her arm around Victor's neck while she pulls him down to her height. Instead of looking disgusted like you expected, he looks...delighted?

"Hey Rae! How was your day?" He asks her as she links her arm with his. As soon as she does, a little pain goes through your heart. You quickly shake it off, ignoring it.

"Great. How was yours?" She asks him with a bright smile.

"Amazing." He answers with a smile.

"Do you wanna hang out tonight?" Rae asks him as he smiles and then looks back to the group.

"You all don't mind if I dip out, right?" He asks as everyone seems okay with it. You can't find words to come out of your mouth.

"Great. See you all tomorrow!" He says as him and Rae begin to walk in the opposite direction. You quickly go quiet as the rest of the group talk around you bubbly.

"Y/N's been awfully quiet since Victor left. Aww, did Rae steal your man Y/N?" Arthur asks as he gives you a playful shove. You give him one back, your face feeling hot.

"Oh my God, shut up!" You yell at him as he laughs.

"Fine, fine." He says as he opens the door to the cafe. You didn't even notice you were there already. The aroma of freshly baked sweets enters your nose as you take a deep breath and smile. You all make your way to the counter.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so glad you're feeling better Y/N!" The girl from behind the counter chirps as you look up to meet her gaze.

"Cherry?" You call out to her and she gives you a bright smile.

"Mhm. Cookie basket as usual?" She asks as you nod. The five of you take a seat at a booth, you squeezing in between Chandler and Arthur.

"So, how was your first day?" You turn to Chandler as he smiles.

"Great actually." He responds.

"The constant attention from girls really boosted my ego." He says whole sticking his chest out as you playfully hit him in the arm.

"Oh shut up..." You trail off as Cherry comes by with the basket of cookies.

"Here's your basket! Could I get you all anything to drink?" She asks.
