My feet pitter patter across the floor
Silent as the night
My ears twitch
As I find the sound I'm investigating
The kitchen light is on
Why is it on this early?
I enter the kitchen, meowing for attention
The man and the woman pet me and feed me
Before leaving
I sit

But when they walk back through the door
They are not alone
They carry a tiny human with them
