I sighed as I made my way through the halls, my tall frame towering over the other students who were loafing around. We still had a week before classes started, but everyone comes early to settle in and catch up with friends about their summer.

I sighed thinking about how I could really use a smoke right now. Unfortunately the warden called for his favorite lackeys. Up ahead I could see the door to the Dean's office and standing in front of the door was Tess.

"Sup Number 2?" I nodded in greeting.

"Number 2? And I'm assuming you think your Number 1? As if." She huffed out in response.

"Well it's definitely not Hunter." We both laughed, and then as if he knew we were talking about him Hunter round the corner coming face to face with us.

"What are we laughing about?" He asked while pulling his long black hair back in a bun.

"Nothing." Tess and I said at the same time. This only caused us to laugh harder. Hunter rolled his eyes but smirked.

"Alright, who's ready to go in and behave like the little obedient bitches we were made to be!" I waved my hands and spoke with fake enthusiasm.

"Let's do it to it dude!" Tess said with just as much sarcasm in return.

I opened the door letting them enter first and I followed closing the door behind me. Dean Rupes was sitting at his desk on the phone letting out small sounds of acknowledgement to whom ever was on the other end of the line.

"Yes I have them here now email me the names and locations and I'll send them on their way." He said. I gave Tess the side eye and rolled them showing my impatience and unhappiness with the way he spoke. The sound of the phone clicking snapped me back to attention.

"That was the psych department. They said some of the tech and clairvoyant student's worked together and have picked up on some disturbances." He turned towards his computer and typed in his password. ZHL1576. I knew this because the gang and I like to play pranks on him by changing his background. It was just too easy and he got so mad.

The printer behind him whirled to life and began printing out papers. He quickly threw them and some folders down in front of us.

"Mr. Patel your pick up is a girl named Samantha Gwen she is eleven. Powers are thought to be elemental control of some sort." Rupes held up a photo of a small Asian girl with a short banged hairstyle. She looked so innocent but elementals can be dangerous when not trained. Rupes placed the papers on the girl in a folder.

"Ms. Rolland yours is a young man named Aaron Mallard. He is a technopath. A very promising one at that. He is already manipulating complex technology." I looked at the boy in the photo. Poor guy it wasn't very flattering it looked as though the picture was taking mid chew and some of is food had fallen on his polo shirt. He had small glasses that magnified his eyes. The papers were put into another folder and handed to Tess.

"And you Mr. Mazer," I nodded. "Your transfer is Winifred Fera. We couldn't get a scan on her power but we know it's strong. We got the signal maybe thirty minutes ago and it was so quick we almost didn't catch it. Alright now that you have your missions you may head out." And like that we were being sent off. Before I could make it out of the office Rupes placed a hand on my shoulder. Tess and Hunter had already faded, taking the shadows, leaving Rupes and I alone.

"Mr. Mazer, you and I need to have a talk about the end of this year when you get a chance. You're eighteen now and will soon graduate. I would love for you to stay on at the school and help around here," I bet he would the fucking greedy bastard, "but I heard that the government has offered you a nice position and I could understand you taking it." With a hard sideways glare I shook his hand off my shoulder.

"When I make a decision you'll know. I have to go now." I mumbled walking to a shadow cast area of the office.

"Well, yes I hope you'd let me know." He said releasing a heavy breath. "Be careful with this transfer Mr. Mazer. We only picked her up for a moment almost weren't able to discover who it had been, but luckily she stayed in the area long enough. It was a very powerful signal though for how short it was used." I shrugged and stepped one foot into the shadow letting the velvety sensation take me as I faded.
