# Ashton POV #

When the rain died down and the floods decreased, Cliff built up the courage to drive me home.

Teegan was still in the house with Morgan, her half-brother and Cliff's brother. She would be staying for a few days. She told me that things weren't good at home, which I guessed anyway.

Cliff hadn't told me anything else other than she cried because of something to with her mum but I knew she would speak when she was ready. I was thankful she wanted to drive me home.

Cliff had stopped crying after about an hour of Teegan's arrival at the Cowell house. She had out on some sweatpants and a top and offered to drive me home because I probably didn't want to sit and comfort her while she cried. I wouldn't have minded it at all, spending time with Cliff. I could tell she wanted some alone time.

When we left the house, I pulled on my jacket I kept in my school bag and covered Cliff with it. The rain was light but it was still there. There was still a pool of water surrounding the whole estate but not as bad as earlier and last night.

Cliff and I ran to her Mini Whirlwind and struggled to get in, but finally did. I threw my school bag into the back seat and turned to her.

"Thanks for letting me stay at your house." I smiled, sincerely.

"Thanks for putting up with me." Cliff grinned and giggled. She started the engine and drove down the driveway, pressed a button on her keys making the front gates open and we exited them.

The drive to the apartment the band and I were staying that the school was renting for the year was close by. I estimated I could walk to Cliff's house in under five minutes when I wanted.

She parallel parked outside the block and stopped the engine. She stayed still for a moment.

"Ashton?"

"Yeah, babe?"

"Can I trust you?"

"With your life." I whispered, placing my hand on hers which was resting on the gear stick.

Cliff paused.

"My mom is dying." I silently gasped, only drawing in a breath. My eyes welled up. "My mom is dying and I may never see her again. Her husband isn't treating Teegan and Kendra and Sterling like he's meant to now, not like a father. He's left them." Cliff was I tears again and I was on the verge of spilling. All I could do is put my arm around her.

"It's okay..." I whispered, not knowing that it would be.

"I have to go see her." Cliff sniffled. She paused. "Will you come with me?"

"Of course, anything." I replied genuinely meaning it.

"Can we go tomorrow after school?" She asked. I agreed. "let's take the train back with Teegan and then we can go for dinner somewhere." She sobbed, drying her tears with her sweater sleeve.

"Of course," I smiled, brushing her messy hair out of her face.

"Good," she stopped crying. "I'll walk you to the door."

I raced out of the car to open the door for Cliff, also taking my school bag out of the backseat. I bowed my head and took her hand and led her onto the sidewalk. She slipped her hand into mine, which I smiled at, as we climbed the steps to my apartment. We stopped outside the door. I took both of her hands in mine and faced her.

"Once again, I would like to thank you for the accommodation, the wonderful experience of singing professionally and spending the day with you. I can think of nothing better." I thanked in one breath.
