I awake to the sound of my cell phone vibrating indicating I have a new message. I’m so tired! What time is it? I reach out my hand to grab my phone which is on the desk, and my eyes burn at the brightness of the screen. Shit! It’s 6 in the morning! Who texts me at 6 in the morning? I glance at the screen and It shows a message sign from Paige. Of Course! Does Paige ever sleep! I bet she’s showered, brushed her teeth, flossed, brushed her teeth again, combed her hair, applied her peach kiss body lotion all over her body, and is standing looking at herself in the mirror in a lavender 3/4 sleeve shirt tucked into a white maxi skirt. Wait! There’s another message from....unknown. The message was sent at 1:10 this morning. I open the unknown message and my eyes start tearing up at the brightness of the screen. The message reads,

Canton Club. Tonight. 9PM TILL WHO KNOWS?

What the hell? Who would send this message? What does it even mean? Whatever, It’s probably some kids in our grade sending rank messages! How stupid do I look? I open the message from Paige and read it,

OMG! DID YOU GET THE FLASH PARTY MESSAGE! CANTON CLUB.TONIGHT.9PM TILL WHO KNOWS? EEEK! THIS IS OUR FIRST FLASH PARTY! I text her back,

K

then throw my phone on the floor. I’ve heard about those flash parties, they happen like once every season. Usually, they happen mid-way through summer, not at the beginning. I know this because Cassie always get’s invited since she is entering 12th grade but we’re usually away for summer, so she never goes. She went once in summer of 7th grade and she hated it completely. It was a long time ago but she mentioned stuff about throwing up, crowded dancing, and way too many people for her too handle. Right! And she wants to be  a world famous rock star. It’s only 6 am so I get back into bed, but now that I’m awake, I can’t go back to sleep. Ugh! I grab my 600 page ‘Oliver Twist’ and start to read. It’s 9 by the time I finish, and I start to get ready for Paige’s house. I take a quick shower, brush my teeth, pull on a pair of jeans and my green tank, then rush down the stairs. Cassie is on her phone sitting on the kitchen table. I grab a bowl of Cereal and sit down next to her.

“Hey” I say brightly,

“Hey! You do know that It’s 9:30 am?Why are you dressed and like... clean?” asks my sister grumpily, clearly still half-asleep.

“Well, you know that flash party?Paige and I got our first invites, like for tonight’s party. Anyways, Paige and I are supposed to go shopping and to the spa, but don’t worry, we won’t overspend. How much can I take?” I ask, changing the topic.

“Well, for starters you have to ask me if you can go first. Remember, mum left me in charge. I normally wouldn’t let you go, but since It’s your first flash party and these things are big things to you girls, you have permission. I want you home by 10, and there are many older kids, alcohol, and cigarettes. I’m trusting you to make the right choices,”Cassie says seriously.

“Oh my god! I’m not into all that drug stuff, but the party starts at 9, let’s make curfew 11,”I complain.

“10:30! Don’t worry, you’ll be back long before that. It’s not your type of party,” says my sister smugly. I hate it when she thinks she knows everything about me.

“Maybe It is my thing and maybe I’ll have fun!” I say angrily while grabbing $100 from her bag and then walking out the house. As I board the bus to Canton Square, I get a text from my sister and from Paige. I open the text from Cassie and read,
