Chapter 1: Reunion?

It has been around seven years since we last met, back then we were young and held so much promise it was only a matter of time until one of us did something great. I heard Gary went on to become a famous Pokemon profess- wait he's even got his own daughter? Wow, time really flies by doesn't it... I also heard Ash finally became one of the Legendary Five, he really did grow up, I wonder who would win if we were to battle it out now? I guess we'll find out when we see them all.

"Poli, Saur and Pika... We've also come so far from how we used to be right?" I told them cheerfully, aware of our own standing and content with it. "Red! Are you speaking to yourself again?" A soft naturing voice said from downstairs. "W-what? No! I'm talking to Poli and the gang!" I replied, you'd think she'd know by now...

We headed downstairs, per usual Pika following besides me, occasionally nuzzling its red cheeks against my leg. "Pika, we've talked about this. You're a grown and mature pikachu you gotta get yourself some food from the kitchen and not from me, geez." I exclaimed, Pika only did this when he wanted food, where did he get that attitude from anyways? "Red c'mon, it doesn't hurt to give him some food occasionally like the good old times when we were 15." She replied back to me. It was true that reminiscing about the days out in the wild, avoiding Team Rocket, battling it out with Blue etc. was fun. "Hey Yellow, How's Blue nowadays?" I asked out of curiosity, I hadn't heard from him like I did with Gary and Ash. "Well last time I checked with Oak he was finishing the new version of the pokedex- Don't worry though we'll see him there" Yellow confidently said.

Seven years ago before we all went our different ways after taking down Rainbow Rocket we all decided to meet where it had all started: Pallet Town. Since then Pallet Town had drastically changed, it expanded and is now a central area for tourists visiting the Kanto region it has even overtaken saffron city! My mother still lives in the old area of Pallet Town, where I started. The League decided to leave it untouched out of respect for all who grew up there that had become massively influential and instead they build it as an extension to Pallet town but only residents and people allowed by residents may enter the area to maintain the privacy of those who live there. We are supposed to meet by the main plaza in Pallet Town.

During the past seven years, Yellow and I have been living over at Cinnabar Island where we helped rebuild the Island after the tragedies that happened and I became a teacher to educate the children who had lost their families during the accident. In a way we all became one big family. Every year we'd all have one big tournament to crown as the champion of "Red's school" and whoever won could challenge me, a previous World Champion, of course none of the children ever got close but it was all good fun as we all enjoyed the event. Last year, my last students left to pursue their own dreams and ambitions and I look forward to hearing from them. Perhaps one day they'll even surpass me. Enough about the past though.

We got on the cruise, the S.S Anne, a ship modelled after the original S.S Anne however unlike the original, this version has reinforced steel and always has patch of water Pokemon to look out for it and alert any emergencies so it is completely safe. We were nearing the beautiful Pallet Town, swarming with tourists, Pokemon Trainers, paparazzi and all that sort. It is the sort of place where you could literally find anyone you wanted and a hot spot for celebrities as this year will be the first time ever the International Legend's Cup is being held, an Event organised by the curent Legendary Five. We finally reached the docks and we got off. Yellow and I are famous enough but since we hadn't been in the news for sometime and laid low we didn't get any attention as we had planned, so we could fully enjoy the wonderful streets of Pallet Town.

As we walked to the main plaza a young boy notices my pokeballs, I had pikachu with Yellow so we don't stand out, and challenges me to a battle. "Mister over there with the red coat! I challenge you to a pokemon battle" He cries out, launching a red/blue pokeball "Go Starmie!" a blue starfish pokemon appears from the pokeball, ready to fight. A crowd soon forms around the battle, making sure that nothing is in the way. "Bold for a youngster aren't you?" I say with a big grin, reminded of the children I used to teach. I sent out Vee, my espeon. "Make the first move" I tell my opponent. "Big mistake!" He shouts back. "Starmie! Use Thunderbolt!"

From within the crimson gem a ray of flashing electricity shoots out aimed towards Vee. I give a quick nod to Vee and he uses calm mind. The thunderbolt directly hits Vee, "Alright! Good job Starmie! Quickly before it can recover use another thunderbolt!" He commands once more. Vee shakes of the second thunderbolt like it's nothing. "Good try kid, your starmie has power but it can't match the level of my Espeon- Vee, finish this and use shadow ball" I stated, looking a Yellow behind me who couldn't believe that I wouldn't even go easy on a youngster. "They've gotta learn eventually!" I whispered back to her. Shortly after the command, a small compressed ball of darkness had formed in front of Vee's mouth who then aimed it at the opposing starmie that was now overwhelmed by the raw power of the Espeon in front. The shadow ball successfully hit the Starmie causing it to faint in return. "Starmie no!" He shouts, running to the defeated pokemon. I told Yellow to heal the Starmie back to health with some herbs and I handed the boy a small card. "Keep that card, train hard and after the tournament visit Cinnabar Island!" I said to him. It was a card for my school. "What? I couldn't help myself!" I defend myself against Yellow's looks of judgingness.

A/N: You've just read the start of Pokemon AfterStory, I've been meaning to write something like this for a long time. I was searching for a fanfic that took place in the future that wasn't about how Ash was betrayed and so since I couldn't find one I decided to make one myself. This chapter was around 1080 words (not including the A/N). Chapter lenghts may vary as sometimes I'll want to get something across a short chapter (e.g Just a pokemon battle) and others may be longer but overall I'll try and stick to 1000 ish words.
