Aiden's POV
"Aaaand he takes the ball. He's advancing towards the goal. He's moving fast! Not a single defender is in sight. Wait there is one defender. Who might this be?!...... It's Owen Miles! The worst player on the team!---------- Owwwww!!!"
*smack*
Matt's wonderful commentary of our paper ball soccer was interrupted as Owen smacked him on the head.
"Worst player huh....let's see how much damage 'the worst player' can do to you..." Owen said, tackling Matt. Both of them started to playfully fight, half shouting and half laughing.
"Hey hey hey!" I shouted, catching their attention.
"We can all agree that even if Owen or Matt might be the worst players.... I am the very best."
I tried to say this with as much seriousness as I could, but as soon as I said it, both of them started cackling with laughter and I couldn't help but crack up.
These were my best friends, Owen and Matt. Both of them were kinda on the weird side, but they were the most loyal and kind friends you could ever have. And that was all I needed.
The bell had just rung, and everyone was rushing out. But the excitement in the air was hard to ignore. Avery high had won the final football game today. Of course everyone wanted to celebrate! Everybody loved football!
Except us.
We pretty much hated it.
The three of us would rather bunk the game and sneak away to the nearest diner for a milkshake or two.
And that's exactly what we had decided to do.
Except that we had been caught going in the opposite direction of the football field by our over-enthusiastic principal.
"Come on boys! We must hurry! We mustn't miss this legendary game!" He said.
And so, we had had to follow him and watch the overrated ( and really.....quite boring ) football game.
But I had to admit, our team was pretty good. They had been scoring one point after the other with ease. But this time the opposing team had been giving a strong fight. The score had been neck to neck, making the match a little more interesting than usual.
The last two minutes had been left. The ball had been with the quarterback. At that point of time I was pretty sure I'd gone deaf from the screaming girls as he'd run across the field to score.
He had scored and we had won the game.
Everyone had expected that.
But what we hadn't expected was what he'd done before the game.
As Owen, Matt and I walked out of the school, I could hear everyone talk about his stunt.
Dustyn Smith had confessed to a girl on the mic before the game. But she wasn't just any girl.
He'd confessed to her.
And she was now his girlfriend.
Amaya Green was my brother's girlfriend.

"Hey Aiden you coming over to my place? We're gonna marathon all the Shrek movies today." Owen asked as we reached the school gate.
Before I could say anything Matt cut in. "Don't you remember? He got the role for that play he wanted. He's probably gonna have practice."
I smiled and nodded. "Maybe next time bro."
