Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.
- 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love never fails. People do. But then again, love sees to it that the wounds are tended to, so that we can dare to love again.
Romance, although never complete without the object of love, is still very much a personal struggle. Falling in love perhaps happens by chance, but falling out of it comes by choice. Meeting someone to love is pure coincidence, but keeping that person is always a matter of personal intention.
"On Losing Pens that Write Love Letters" is a journey of one man through romance, regret, and recovery, as he realizes that indeed, people may be gems to be polished- rough, imperfect, crannied- but love makes up for those imperfections, and that indeed love never fails, to mend a broken heart, and to straighten the crooked path of an insecure life.
