A scream echoed off the walls. Bash stopped dead in his tracks. There were four corridors that he could take, but which one did the screams come from? He turned in circles waiting for another scream to come but there wasn't any. He stood in the middle of the crossroads. As he was about to turn down the east hallway a piercing scream came down the hallway behind him. He turned and ran. The hallway seemed to go on forever until he came to a large blood spattered oak door. Bash was filled with pure untainted fear. He tried the handle and it wouldn't open. He threw himself against the door again and again, the screams pounding into his head. He threw himself into the door one more time, hot tears running down his face. The door wouldn't give. He paced a little ways back down the hall, the door still in view. His hands were frantically running through his hair, unsure what else to do. He stalked back up to the door, fists pounding against it. Bash now understood what all the blood was from. His hands were raw with cuts and bruises. He walked weakly to the corner of the hall and sunk down against the wall next to the door, the screams still filling his head. Bash's head fell weakly against the wall next to him. He knew in his heart whose screams those were. There was only one persons they could be and that one person was Callie. He knew that there was no way he could get in there until they were done with her.
His body had gone numb by the time the screams stopped outside him, but they were still echoing in his head over and over again like a scratched record. Bash pulled himself up and tried the door again. It opened. There was nothing but pure darkness and a dank feeling to the air around him as he entered the room. He felt slowly around with the tip of his white Converse until he felt something soft against his shoe. He instantly dropped to his knees, his arms threaded themselves under her knees and back, lifting her then pulling her tight to his chest. Bash turned around, with Callie in his arms, moving towards the light that the door was filtering in. As he left the dank room, tears were streaming down his flushed cheeks. Bash ran straight, never turning down another hallway, until he came upon another large oak door. There was a cool draft coming from underneath the door. This has to lead out of here. He turned the knob and was faced with flat, black land that seemed to go on forever. There was a, oddly out of place, tree a little ways away from the old abandoned farmhouse behind him. Bash ran to it and set Callie down against the cool bark of the tree, now getting a full look at the extent of what they had done to her. Her skin was pale, leached of all color. Black swirling marks that, just like Celtic Knots, never separated, covered her entire body. If Bash was in his right mind he would say that he smelt the scent of burning flesh. The marks did look burned onto her.
"That's where the screams came from." Bash said in a broken voice. He lowered himself down next to her and brought her into his arms, cradling her against his chest with no intent on letting go.
Light burned on the other side of his eyelids, waking him. Callie was still tight in his grip. She hadn't moved an inch since the day before when Bash pulled her from The Terror Room. The lingering smell of burnt flesh had disappeared overnight and the marks on her body looked healed but showed no signs of disappearing. Bash carefully moved her and put his jacket under her head. He stood up and looked around. He didn't see anything that look of importance or that could help them get out of here. He knew that Bynxx should have been here by now, taking them home.
"Where the hell is he?!" Bash pitched to no one. As he turned around, he saw two figures in the distance. Bash took a sharp breath and went back to Callie. It would take a few minutes for whoever he saw in the distance to get to him. He looked down at Callie. She looks dead. He spoke to himself in his head. I'm not dead Bash, what are you talking about? He flinched at her voice.
"Callie?!" Her name ripped out of his throat. He kneeled down next to her, placing his calloused hand on her cheek.
"I know I heard you! Please! Say something else......I know it was you. It has to be you." Tears were threatening to fall again. He looked up from Callie's face to see the figures approaching them. It wasn't Bynxx. Bash quickly got to his feet and stood protectively in front of Callie's lifeless body. He stayed silent as the strangers approached.
