*Mild Spider-Man: FFH spoilers*
BANG
I woke suddenly, snorting and falling off of the couch where I was sleeping with a thump. From the next room over, I heard blaring Led Zeppelin music... Or was it AC DC? Both? But that's not important. I guess Tony had made himself at home again. Grabbing a jacket from a nearby side table to cover my bare chest, I entered the room.
Tony turned around at the sound of my footsteps, flipping his goggles up to his forehead with his signature smirk. "Mornin honey. Wanna see what I'm workin on?"
"First of all, yes I'd love to see what weird crap you're working on," I sauntered over to his table, well technically my table but that's not the point, and leaned casually against it. "And second, I'm gonna pretend you didn't just call me 'honey.'"
"Alright sweetie."
"You know I'm starting to miss you calling me wizard."
"Get used to it cutie," he smirked before taking a closer look at me. His eyebrows furrowed at the sight of my messy bedhead and stubble-covered face. This expression quickly melted though as his eyes brushed over my torso. He swallowed before saying, with perfect composure, "Nice shirt by the way."
"Thanks, made it myself. Now what are you working on?" I cut to the chase, closing the jacket in front of my chest. He rolled his eyes, but I could see disappointment behind them. On the table was a pile of mechanical pieces, none of which I knew the name or purpose of. Beside this mess was a pair of metallic glasses frames, no lenses inside of them.
"So what we have here is a new, special, state-of-the-art technology that I invented," he gloated, gently picking up a blue-gray lens between his right thumb and forefinger. I watched as his calloused hands carefully inserted the first lens, followed by the second, each with the precision of a surgeon. Despite being impressed, I was a bit confused.
"You invented sunglasses?" I raised a brow. "I hate to tell you this, Tiny, but I think someone else beat you to that years ago. I mean they look nice but-"
"Oh shut up and put them on," he groaned, grabbing the frames and sliding them up my nose. His fingers brushed against my cheeks, resting on my jaw as his thumbs pressed on their corners. Each touch felt so intimate, warmth blooming across my skin under his fingertips. The glasses slid back and Tony's thumbs fell to my cheekbones, leaving more warmth in their wake. He regarded me softly, as if I was a piece of art for him to admire, and sighed softly. One of his thumbs brushed across my cheek as I placed my hands on the small of his back, pulling him against me. Eyes fluttering to my lips, he whispered softly, "You're so beautiful..."
I grinned, one side of my mouth rising higher than the other. "Are you talking to me or the glasses?" I teased, whispering to him as I gently swayed him from side to side.
"Would it be weird to say both?"
"Not at all," I let him go, reaching up to remove his hands from my face and entwining our fingers as I lowered then to our sides. "You're pretty beautiful too, Tiny." I bent down to place a kiss to his temple.
"I would be flattered," he said, pulling his hands away from mine. "But you ruined it by calling me 'Tiny.'"
I laughed, giving his shoulder a light shove, before looking him in the eye again. "But you are quite handsome, Tony."
"I know I am," he smirked, turning to write something on a sheet of paper. "But let's get on to the main event. Read this." He spun around, holding a sheet of paper with a single word written on it.
"Edith? What does-" I was cut off by the lenses illuminating with a low blue light. Small boxes, words, and pictures popped up in my vision. "Woah..."
Hello, Stephen Strange. I am Edith, Tony Stark's B.A.R.F headset. You have been given full access to my controls by Mr. Stark. How may I help you today?
"Still working on that introduction. Never really had a way with words," Tony crossed his arms in front of his chest, a smug smile playing on his lips.
"Tony this is amazing!" I was smiling like a kid on Christmas. I looked at him and a box with his photo and an excerpt from his Wikipedia page popped up next to his head. "Edith is the coolest thing I've ever seen!"
Why thank you, Doctor. Is there anything I can do for you?
I moved closer Tony, looking into his eyes. "Actually yes. I think this calls for a celebration. What are some good restaurants nearby?"
"Edith isn't a glorified iPhone assistant, Stephen," Tony rolled his eyes at me.
Well McDonald's has very good ratings and-
"No I'm thinking something fancier. Something..." I tapped my chin in faux thought, looking around the room before placing my gaze back on the man in front of me. "Something romantic." Tony blushed, a meter popping up in the lens display, indicating his heart rate had risen slightly.
Oh I see. Then I would suggest DeMarco's Bistro, about 10 minutes from here and well praised by couples on Yelp. Can I book a reservation for you?
"Hmm... How about 6pm tomorrow?" I asked, watching Tony's nod of approval. His hands shot up to cover his huge smile.
I've just placed your reservation. Is this anything else I can do for you?
"No that should be all. Thanks, Edith," I answered, taking the glasses off and closing them carefully. Tony was staring at me speechless as I set them on the table, ruffling my beautiful inventor's hair with my free hand.
"... Let me go iron my tux," he eventually stuttered out, slipping on his sling ring and dropping through a portal in the floor.
