to chan, jisung, and changbin, the Society was amazing.

cam thought differently.

When the four were growing up, life was full of happiness, though there were threats from an unknown source, no one took them very seriously, as it seemed impossible someone from outside the city was alive. At the age of 11, an attack began, though no one has any recollection of it. From then on, a new government formed; The Society. A barrier of silver bushes surrounded the city. Guards would inspect it everyday. No one was allowed near or past them. If you were found, no one would see you again.

All youth at the age of 13 were required to join Kamp; a training center. Though people saw it as a military camp, no one really knew what was happening until you got in there yourself. The Hyeol is a serum injected while in Kamp every night.

Before the nine boys came together, it was the four amigos. Camden loved those three. her heart swelled with a single mention of their names. She loved them so much. Endless days as children running around, falling down and cheering each other on. They grew up together with a bond that seemed unbreakable. When the Hyeol began to kick in, Camden could slowly see the life and personality leave those around her. No one was allowed to stand out. Chan, Woojin, and Hyunjin were the ones who remained their real selves the longest through the Hyeol, along with Cam herself.

Once  Kamp had started as 13 year old's, she had begun to realize what was really happening. The Society was taking over, and she was the only one who saw it. Life was no longer colourful and optimistic. Everyone began to be objects, working day and night on railroads, coal mining, and exploring the small world they lived in. No one was allowed outside of the city. They were the only remaining people on Earth. Cam knew otherwise.

Chan, Jisung, Changbin, and Camden had become friends with the other five in the Kamp, before they began their real training. Months went by, Hyeol began to become regularly injected, and training began to get harder and harder, pushing them to their limits. Now, at the age of 16, Camden had had enough. The silver bush inspections for anything out of the ordinary began to be infuriating. Camden began to rebel against the leaders. Refusing the injections, fighting against the training. Chan had begun to see her reasoning, as did the other 8 boys.

The Society had begun to get irritated, and threw her into the Mirror. A simulation. No one really knew what happened inside, but when the person came out, they were almost zombie-like. It was the one thing that worked 99% of the time to turn people's heads straight. Except Cam was that 1% who got out bruised up and more aware of what really was going on.

The 9 boys sat rigid against the wall by the outdoor corridors. Chan had begun to grow more and more nervous by the minute. Their heartbeats had begun to beat in sync as time passed. Camden had been thrown into the Mirror once again. Every time she went back in she came out more and more weak.

When the relieving sound of the door being opened had been heard, they all moved their eyes to see the sight. Cam was passed out, her dark shoulder-length hair swayed back and forth from the steps while being dragged by guards with silver sweat-suits. Chan shivered at the sight. He began to adjust his stark white clothing; required by every person to wear while in Kamp.

Since then, no one saw her at training, in the dormitories, bathrooms, cafeteria, or anywhere else. It was like she didn't even exist in the first place. The 9 began to get more and more worried.

Days later, as Chan was on break from Silver Inspection, Cam pulled Chan into a closet. Him being him, he began to yell at her, demanding what was happening, where she had been. She tried to explain to him, they needed to leave. Run. There was a society outside the boundaries. He began to think it was ridiculous, crazy even. He was trying so hard to talk the nonsense out of her.

Sure, he found the Society ridiculous, but running away?

All they knew about the outside was that it was burning. Flames had overtaken everyone and everything outside of the city boundaries. He began to argue. Telling her he wasn't going to leave. The 8 others weren't either. He couldn't and wouldn't let them be dragged into this. A grim look crossed over Cam's face, her brown eyes darkening. She sat silent for a few moments.

All Chan could hear was the deafening sound of his raging heartbeat. She's not leaving. She can't. Then she looked into his eyes with a piercing look of determination.

"I'm going. I'm running, Bang Chan. I know  it's out there. When I find it, i'll come back for you. I promise you," She said, a hard tone to her voice. He began to yell.

"No! Don't do it!"

Cam opened the door, her hair blew with the wind that began. She looked at him, one last time. He could see the unsaid words in her eyes. She walked away, he yelled after her; screamed, to not go.

The last words he had heard from her haunted him for the 6 months she was gone.
