Me Alone

Part 2 (The good Samaritan)

Scared, lonely and in pain. Tanya stood along the side of the road with blood running down her legs and tears flooding her face. The darkness of the night was so thick, the only thing that could be seen were fire flies, flickering every now and then. She looked up and down the road while the cold wind sent shivers down her spine. All the crazy thoughts and memories of just being raped by three men ran through her mind as she gazed down the dark road.

"Fada God me a beg yuh fi help mi! Send smaddy come Lord! Weh mi do fi deserve dis??" She whispered to herself.

No sooner had she said this than a car came speeding down the road, the headlights hit Tanya straight in the eyes as she hopped closer to the road to signal the driver for help. The car was fast approaching as the driver didn't notice her, she was now standing in the middle of the road while a speeding car was heading right towards her. Tanya realized the driver was unaware that she was right there, weakened, she tried her best not to get hit as the driver swerved out the way with a loud screech and came to an abrupt pause on the side walk.

With no more strength in her body, Tanya laid on the cold, rocky ground as if she had now given up. The driver jumped out the car so fast;

"Weh di bloodc..." He paused as he realized what's happening. He dashed over to her to offer help, but Tanya was not moving, he observed her body and saw that she was still breathing and picked her up, opened the back doors of his car and carefully placed her in, all the time assuring her that everything will be okay and drove off.

Tanya woke up the following evening at the hospital all clean, she opened her eyes slowly as the light was bright.

Nurse 1: "She wake up!"

The other doctors and nurse rushed over to greet her and express their deepest sympathy for what had happen to her.

Nurse 2: "Miss, when di young man tell mi what happen, mi cry cause I remember when I was younger I was abused, but don't worry yuhself, we tek care a yuh and you should be good, we have a program you can enroll on to meet with a psychologist to help, but that is after you heal and back on your feet"

Tanya looked on with the bruises on her face and nodded her head in consent to the nurses.

Nurse 3: "Speaking of the young man, he is here to see you, this is his 3rd time from morning to check up on you."

The young man entered the room and walked over to her.

"Miss, mi just want apologize bout last night, cause mi almost lick yuh dung" He said.

Tanya held his hand, smiled and told him "Thank you". He stayed for about 20 minutes and they spoke about her experience the night before. He had to leave so he left his phone number with her on a piece of paper.

"Anything yuh want, just call mi zeen?" He said as he left.

The nurses turned the TV on, right in the middle of TVJ news and left the room to get her some food. Tanya started to cry as she thanked God for sparing her life. "Breaking News!" Flashed across the screen, grabbing her attention. It was announced that three men are now wanted for raping and killing the daughter of a high school principal, their pictures were also shown but very blurry because it was from a surveillance camera in a park.

Tanya looked at all three and realized they were her rapers.
