"Dude, I'm so bored~," groaned Kyle.
"Cheer up!" Alphie said with a big, bright smile. "Today, we could maybe go on an adventure, something fun like that!"

"You know, maybe Alph's right, we could go on a little adventure," said Stew."It could turn out really fun, and besides, it's summer break, so we should do something a little worthwhile."
"Welp, that's three! You in, Mikey?" asked Alphie.

"Of course, dude." I replied.
I loved when we did these kinds of things. We had always found something fun to do, whether it be completely random or not. It's always intriguing to find odd stuff, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't astonished by some of them.

As we walked on for our little "journey", we encountered a guy. He looked pretty fucked up for the most part, and I felt kinda bad for him 'cause he looked our age. I could tell the other guys did too, as they had slightly concerned looks on their faces. We were just going to pass him, but we were stopped when we heard the man say, "Wait, please, stop!"
His voice was very raspy, and he sounded like he hadn't talked for a while. We all turned around in curiosity, and faced him.

"W-what?" Kyle responded, trying to act as calm as possible, though I could tell he was nervous.
"I, um...I have an offer for you."
"...what is it?" Questioned Stewart.
"Well..." the guy paused for a second to clear his throat. "If one of you keep  this pocket watch with you, only ONE of you, I will write you all a check personally for one million dollars."

We all looked at each other confused, since this guy looked like he didn't even have a penny to his name.
"Um, you sure you could give us one MILLION dollars?" Kyle said, really exaggerating the word, "million".
"I may not look it, but yes, I can." The man answered."So," he said, as he pulled a broken but nice pocket watch from behind his back, "What'll it be? Either leave here without anything, or go home to find a one million-dollar check in your mail tomorrow?"

"P-please give us a moment, sir," Alphie said, giving the guy a small smile before signaling us to all to huddle together.

"So...what should we do?" Stewart asked in a hushed down voice.
"Obviously take the money, it's one million dollars, dude!"said Kyle in a shouting whisper.
"Now wait a moment, something seems a little sketchy here. What if we actually do do what he says, and he just scams us into some fishy stuff or something like that? Then what? The million dollars wouldn't even matter."I said, trying to be as cautious as possible.

"But dude, it's one million dollars." Kyle said, actually being serious for once. "I mean, that's a shit-ton of money!"
"I have to agree that is a pretty huge amount."Stewart said, actually agreeing with Kyle on something.
"I agree, but all four us need to agree. Are you in, Mikey?"Alphie asked, his eyes glistening with happiness as always.

"Sigh...fuck it, it's a million dollars man, what's the worst that could happen?" I replied, kind of unsure about my answer, but knew I couldn't say no to these guys.
"Yes!" Kyle said happily, probably 'cause he was going to get a whole lot of money.
We all turned back around to face the guy who was surprisingly just waiting patiently for a reply.

"Well?" he asked.
"We accept your offer." I replied.
He grinned, and said, "Well, I was expecting a decline, but this is excellent!" He handed me the pocket watch, which I took with unease, and said, "Have a great day, and stay safe."
"Thank you, we will, and we hope you do, too!" exclaimed Alphie.

"Alright guys, let's go." I said.
As we kept walking, I swear I heard that man mutter, "May the four of you go to hell, and experience the same pain you gave me..."
