Angelica smiled nervously at James, Stacy's boyfriend, when he held the elevator door open for her. "Thank you," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

"You're welcome," James replied with a polite nod, but Angelica could feel her hands shaking slightly as she walked into her cabin.

She sat down and began working, but her thoughts kept wandering. After half an hour, she had finished everything she needed to do. Her hands fidgeted in her lap as she walked to Mr. Knight's office to see if he needed anything. She knocked softly before entering, finding him focused on his laptop. He looked up at her, his gray eyes piercing but warm.

"Is there anything else I can do, sir?" Angelica asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"No, you're good for now, Angel," he replied, his gaze returning to the screen.

Angelica nodded and quietly return to her desk. She tried to focus on the phone calls she was receiving, but the silence in her cabin made her feel restless.

A Few Hours Later

Lunchtime came, and Angelica made her way toward Mr. Knight's office again. She knocked gently before entering, unsure of what to say or do. He was still typing away at his laptop, but when he looked up and smiled, Angelica's stomach fluttered.

"I'm going to the cafeteria, sir," she said, hoping he wouldn't stop her.

"Come sit, Angel," Mr. Knight said, his voice smooth but commanding.

Angelica hesitated for a moment before walking over and sitting down in the chair he had motioned toward. She sat stiffly, her hands clasped in her lap as she waited for him to finish his work.

Minutes later, Mr. Knight stood up, adjusting his suit jacket like he had all the time in the world. He looked every bit the powerful figure that he was, his broad shoulders and chiseled jawline making him seem even more imposing. Angelica swallowed nervously, feeling small and almost fragile under his gaze.

"Come on," he said, his hand resting gently on her back as he led her toward the private elevator.

Angelica's heart raced as he guided her. She loved the view from the elevator, but she couldn't shake the feeling that Mr. Knight's gaze was fixed on her, watching her every move. She tried to focus on the city outside, but the quiet tension between them made it hard to think.

"Angel," Mr. Knight said, his voice firm but not unkind.

She glanced up, meeting his gray eyes, wide with uncertainty. "Yes, sir?" she responded, her voice a little shaky.

"From now on, you'll use this elevator," he said, his words carrying an unspoken command.

Angelica's brow furrowed slightly in confusion. "But there are other elevators, sir..." she said, her voice trailing off as she realized he wasn't going to explain.

They reached the ground floor, and as the doors opened, Mr. Knight's presence shifted. His aura became colder, more menacing. He seemed to shrink the space around him as his jaw clenched, and people immediately stepped aside, their faces pale with fear. Angelica's knees went weak at the intensity of his gaze. She felt like she could disappear in the shadows as he led her through the lobby. The chill in the air wrapped around her, but even in that moment, she found herself wanting to know more about the man behind the cold exterior.

They reached his car, and just like the day before, two black cars followed them. Angelica didn't ask where they were headed. She had a feeling he wouldn't answer her anyway.

As she sat in the car, her gaze drifted to the busy streets, her thoughts lost in the world outside the window. She could feel the tension between them, the quiet calm that seemed to exist only in his presence. Mr. Knight focused on the road, the coldness in his eyes dissipating just slightly. For a moment, Angelica thought she saw something softer in him, but it was gone as quickly as it came.
