Saving Each Other

CHAPTER 5

"Ahem!" Eden scoffed. What did I just say? I clear my throat and start giggling. I awkwardly change the topic, "Yeah so I laughed when Mrs. James was lying about rejecting you while it was the other way round," He also giggled awkwardly. I hate to tell him that I won't be his therapist now since I'm taking a break but I have to, "So I forgot to tell you that this is my last session with you as your therapist," he was dumbfounded by what I just told him. He asked, "Are you quitting?" I replied, "No, I'm taking a break, I've worked a lot and I'm exhausted," With a confused look on his face, he asked, "So it's like a long vacation...right?" "Yes," I answered. "Doesn't Mrs. James mind?" he asked. "No, apart from the flirting, she's a really nice person. She has helped me a lot. She said I should take my time," I answered. With a confused expression on his face, he said, "It's very unlikely of a boss to say that unless you're close friends." I nod and say, "We're not very close, she just helped me with college and my internship," I added, "That's nice of her," Eden warmly concludes.

A few seconds later Eden's phone started ringing. He walked to his room to take the call. A few minutes later he comes and says, "That was Mrs. James. She said since you're leaving, she'll take over until you come back," I smiled and said, "That's good," Eden frowned and said, "Not for me, she said after today's session with you she'll be taking over," I replied, "That's okay," he added, "Yeah I guess it'll be fine," there was awkward silence after that and he asked me, "We'll still meet on Sundays though right?" I smiled and said, "Yes," He added, "I'll have sessions with Mrs. James on Saturdays so I can't hang out with you then. I wanted to continue helping him, not just as a client but as a good friend. Somehow I get this weird feeling as if we have met before. I really need to get my head straight. Disappointed that I wouldn't be having sessions with him but with a straight face, I replied, "It's alright. Your recovery is more important at the moment," His phone rang again, "Excuse me once again," he added before taking the call. A few minutes later he came out with anger on his face and said, "I'm so sorry Blue but I think I have to go to the office, something came up," I nod and say, "Yeah, no problem," with a disappointed look on his face he said, "We're meeting tomorrow right?" I answered, "Yes," After he changed his clothes, we both left the house together. He unlocked his car and hugged me before leaving. I froze with no expression. "Sorry," he said. I just smile and nodded. We both left then. I decided to go back home and just take a long nap to digest what happened today.

I reached home and saw Bethany and Scarlet watching T.V and eating popcorn, "Heyyy!! Come join us, we're watching friends!" Scarlet shouted with excitement. I walk towards the back of the couch and give a warm hug to the both of them and say, "Hey you guys, you catch on, I'll just take a short nap." They both hug me back and I look at Bethany and ask, " I hope you're recovering well Bethany," She smiles without baring her teeth and adds, "Yes dear, I am doing well so far, thanks to you both," we all just hug tighter. A few seconds later, my phone starts ringing, "God, you have got to change that ringtone!" Scarlet exclaims with a whimsical look on her face. 'duh! What's wrong with Fireflies? I know the song is annoying and it's everywhere but hey, you cannot hate Owl City," I answer and giggle. Scarlet rolls her eyes and turns back to watching T.V. I see Marty on the caller ID and my face lights up immediately. I pick up and say, "Hi, Marty! How are you??" "I am just great, couldn't have been better Blue! You won't believe who just called me! Oh My God, I am so excited I could pass out!..."He talked in a single breath. I replied with laughter, "Woah Woah, okay Marty, breathe....breathe, tell me what's going on?" He replied, "Shoot! I'm so excited I forgot how to breathe, guess what?! Edward is coming back home for good!" Edward Benjamin Stewart, Marty's son and my best guy friend whom I grew up with and has been like a younger brother to me. He was the kindest, most caring, funny and witty. We were both just 16 when he went to study abroad to become a heart specialist, and now he is finally coming back 12 years later. He was so determined to fulfill his dream that he never visited us, he had to make all of us proud, he promised his dad that he will only come back after being a successful person. I was so pumped after hearing that he was coming back and we would finally go back to the good old days where it was just Marty, Bethany, Scarlet and I. As the corners of my mouth slid upwards and my eyes widened, I screamed out of joy, "Really? When is he coming? Are we picking him up from the Airport? Is he here already? Wait, are you messing around with me again?" He laughed and added, "No dear, He just called me right now saying he will be here by 8 pm tonight. His roommate will drop him home so we wouldn't need to pick him up." I then reply, "Great we can prepare his favorites by the time he reaches here, I'm on my way." I turn back to Scar and Beth and scream with all the energy in me, "Edward is coming back home for good!" Both Bethany and Scar were speechless and gapped their jaws in surprise, Scarlet then started blushing and playing with her hair. Did I mention that Edward was Scarlet's crush, and God knows maybe he still is? She never told him and she also never had a boyfriend. So she is likely to still be crushing on him.
