the second time is more or less the same.

eyes blinking open, painful light burning into them. muscles tense, body dead weight he's sure won't move anytime soon. everything white.

it's a bit easier. he feels less like he's died and been suddenly resurrected, and more like he just passed out. maybe a mild headache. he supposes that's true.

his head rests on a pillow, body covered halfway by a measly blanket. he's no longer wearing the hospital gown, can instead feel a solid pair of jeans and a t shirt gracing his body. when he peaks open an eye, he can see the clothes are all white. the blanket too.

what he doesn't see is the woman sitting at a table near the foot of his bed. he hears her first.

"are you awake?"

he jumps up quickly, a startled noise leaving his mouth, back straightening and body launching backward to rest against another white wall, distancing himself from the sound. his eyes finally open fully, and he realizes he's in a different room than before.

he also realizes he's not alone soon afterwards, a bed on either side of him, each with another male inside. one is turned to face the opposite way as him, and the other's face he can barely see, eyes closed.

he scans the room, seeing white fluorescent lights covering the ceiling, tiled floors the same color, and blank walls. there's a door on the opposite side of the room. when his gaze finally lands on the lady, he notices she's sitting between him and it. between him and possible freedom.

her face is long, cheekbones set high and eyes big, staring at him expectantly. her nose is thin and pointed at the end, almost triangular, and small glasses sit on the bridge. brown hair is curled into a bun behind her head, and you can see lines on her forehead and around her mouth from frowning frequently. not a good sign.

he's zoned out before he even notices, and is only brought back to reality by her saying his name. "jeongguk?" cuts through the silent room, and the way he hears it twice reminds him of the large amount of drugs that must be in his system. he's honestly not sure if he's awake. could just be asleep sitting up.

his thoughts collect and he remembers the panic. the anger. all strong and overpowering, and he's not sure how long ago it was that it ran through his veins. maybe it's been hours. not even. for now all he knows is he feels decidedly more calm. maybe just confused this time. less of the fear. thousands of questions run through his mind, but he only settles on one.

"are you a robot?" it comes out as a croak, voice hoarse from all the screaming. he tries to clear his throat but the scratchy feeling remains.

the woman just sits there. blinks.

"nice to see you're okay jeongguk. my name is doctor choi, and i'm concerned about-"

he raises an eyebrow, head tilting. "you avoided my question."

her face is unflinching, a faux smile still spread across thin lips. her eyes still meet his dead on, not a hint of any emotion inside them. she reeks of professionalism. it makes his head hurt worse.

"please don't interrupt." the words are smooth, chiding, and jeongguk just stares back blankly. he doesn't want to make promises he can't keep. as of right now he's nowhere near scared of the woman in front of him, just feels distaste and unease creeping up the lower stretch of his body. curiosity eating away at his brain. he'll likely interrupt her many more times.

"now, jeongguk, i'm concerned about your mental stability." he bites back a scoff, if she notices, she ignores, "i have a couple questions for you in order to assure you receive the care you may need."
