"Hey Hollister!" Conner McNeil hollers at Grace from his table as she enters the cafeteria. She smiles at him and quickly sprints over to his table, where evidently, the rest of her friends are sitting as well, all eating their lunch and marveling at girls.
Typical boys.
"Started eating without me?" Grace clutches her heart, pretending to be in pain. "I'm hurt." She teases and the table erupts in laughter.
"Have you heard the rumors?" Her ginger-head friend Seth loudly whispers from his seat. Grace shakes her head and furrows her eyebrows, clueless of whatever he's talking about.
"Pretty boy over there just broke up with Kenna Johnson." He says pointing his straw over to a table across the room. Grace's head turns to meet the eye catching British heartthrob, Lewis Harrington, who was looking rather low and had barely touched his meatloaf.
"You're kidding." Grace grinned at Seth, but he shakes his head and stuffs his mouth with food. "But that's impossible! Lenna has been Middleton High's 'it' couple for five years running! Damn kids are supposed to be married by now!" She says, completely shocked.
"They say she's moving back to Paris in the fall." Tyler, Connor's twin brother, shrugs his shoulders. "It's a shame I never got a kiss from her." He smirks and grace smacks him playfully across the shoulder.
"Aye! Damned volleyball player." Tyler winces in pain and rubs his shoulder. He sticks his tongue out at Grace and she returns the gesture. "Baby." She smirks and he rolls his eyes.
"Well they're just some shit rumors." Scott Alfrinski mumbles. "How do we know they're even true?" He says finishing all that's left on his tray. At that precise moment, Lewis stands up from his table and stuffs his hands in his pocket before walking out of the cafeteria.
"Leave that up to me." Grace smirks and sprints after him. She spots him about to push the library doors open, but stops him before he could enter.
"Lewis." Her tone sounds sounds serious. "Are the rumors true?" She says getting straight to the point. To Grace, sugar-coating what needs to be said was pointless, because the truth is just a hard cold stone ready to hit you right on the head.
His lips curve into a sad smile. "Hey mate." He says with his charming British accent. The word 'mate' makes her shudder a little, knowing that a single word could show everyone she was his best friend and nothing more
"You two are broken up?" She says sympathetically, looking into his Emerald green eyes and realize they're full of sadness. Grace feels her heart sink to the bottom of her stomach just by looking at her best friend. Nobody's heart deserves to be broken so harshly and unexpectedly, especially when that person is as good as Lewis Harrington.
He rubs the back of his neck nervously and scoffs. "Yeah it's true. She's moving back to Paris two weeks from now actually."
"And you two really couldn't work a long-distance relationship?" Grace exclaims, her voice filled with pity. He shakes his head and averts his gaze to the floor. "Timezones and stuff." He shrugs. Grace feels the need to close the space between them and hug the sadness out of him, because she'd kill to see that killer smile again. But knowing that things would be awkward, she restrained herself.
Then Lewis Harrington does something completely unexpected and pulls Grace into a tight hug instead, one that feels as if he's afraid to let go, for she might slip out of his grasp and fall. "Thanks for being here Grace. I know I can always count on you mate." He pulls away and shoots her a warm smile before entering the library.
And even at his absence, her stomach swarms with butterflies and her heart seems to stop and hammer against her chest again and again, just as it always has ever since the 5th grade.

Hey guys! So hey this is one of my new books!
As you all know (hopefully) my friend gave this account to me because she thinks too many people knew who she was on wattpad, and people from her school would tease her and bug her for her "shit story" so now she's gone all incognito and made a new account. My name is Elle and I'm going to be taking over this account from now on :)
Hope you guys enjoyed this first part! Comment what you think about Lewis or Grace and please vote!
