...............

Ding-dong!

The bell rang. I woke up in a pool of sweat. I couldn't help but thank my lucky stars for waking me up. The nightmare I had was terrible. I couldn't exactly remember what it was, but all I knew was that it was simply horrendous.

Ding-dong, Ding-dong!

I sighed and glanced at the time. It was 3am in the morning. Whoever it was at the door was growing impatient. For all I knew, it couldn't be my parents. They weren't supposed to be back before 8am.

Ding-dong, Ding-dong, Ding-dong!

"Arrgh!" I mumbled. I quickly got out of my bed and rushed downstairs. On reaching the door, I opened it as quickly as possible. But what I saw left me speechless.

Nothing.

That's exactly what I saw. Nothing. I felt annoyed that somebody had pranked me at this time in the morning.

Just as I was about to close the door, a strong gust of wind blew into my house, causing me to trip and fall.

And that's the last thing I remember before I blacked out.

.......................

You are in a dark and empty place. There's nothing around you. You are surrounded by utter silence. All you can listen is the beating of your own heart. Then all of a sudden, the silence is broken by a ghastly voice.

"The mirror shall show you your fate."

You get taken aback by the statement. How can a simple mirror show you your fate? That's highly impossible.

As if something can listen your thoughts, a mirror suddenly appears in front of you. The reflection- your reflection- in front of you is a horrible one. The hair are matted, most of the parts of the nightgown are covered in blood and there's a huge dagger in your hand. Your reflection smiles slyly at you and puts the dagger in the side-pocket of the nightgown. And then, everything around you dissolves into a swirling motion and blacks out.

...............

I woke up with a start.

I was in my bedroom. In my own bed, in fact. I looked around. The bedroom looked quite normal. It didn't show any signs of me going down to the living room to open the door.

'Maybe I was dreaming.' I thought. I tried going back to sleep but I couldn't. So I got out of my bed and sat upright. I began thinking of what to do, when I heard it.

"The mirror shall show you your fate."

I froze. 'No, this is not happening.' I thought. I sat there, trembling.

"The mirror shall show you your fate."

I got up, trembling. I made my way to my full-length, bedroom mirror and on reaching it, I saw my own reflection. But in this reflection, there was something different. My side-pocket suddenly felt a bit more heavier than usual.

I reached inside and pulled out a dagger.

I widened my eyes in shock. Softly sobbing, I held up the dagger in air and brought it down on me. 'This was my unknown fate.' I realised as I died, spilling blood all over my nightgown.
