Changbin's POV

I could smell it. That nauseatingly beautiful smell I'd never smelt before but I knew exactly who it belonged to.

My legs were up and running before I could stop myself. My wolf was forcing his way out of my body and I shifted as soon as I heard Minho shouting in my head.

I needed to get to my mate and protect her from the vampires that Minho had just been yelling about. I needed to-

Oh.

My eyes landed on a boy with brown hair almost the same shade as my wolf's fur. His eyes glowed dangerously as my pack and his people conversed tensely.

He was a vampire. He was my mate.

I shook myself from my thoughts when three wolves ran by me and launched themselves at the vampires. My wolf growled viciously and threw himself at the vampire, knocking him to the floor.

"What are you doing?!" I yelled at my wolf but he only continued to growl and snap at anyone who came close to our mate.

I had completely lost control over my animal and sat back as he protected the vampire from harm.

My mind was a complete mess and before I knew it the fighting had stopped and only two of the original four vampires remained.

"Changbin are you going to shift back or just stand on top of your mate all day?" Minho glanced at me.

Oh yeah, I was still on top of my mate.

"Well shit, that's Changbin?" Jisung laughed loudly and then hunched over in pain.

I snarled at him before shifting back into human form. "I know what you're going to say vampire, very funny."

"If you want to take up my offer then come find me at any time." he grinned annoyingly.

I huffed and turned to the boy who was still lying on the ground. "I didn't protect you because I wanted to... my wolf reacted and I couldn't stop him. I have no desire to be your mate."

I tensed as he sat up and looked at me with wide eyes. "Wait, what? Why?"

"You're a vampire." I stated obviously.

"So? I'm still your mate." he huffed and crossed his arms.

I almost cracked a smile at how adorable that move was but my fear was stronger than that. I couldn't afford to have a vampire as a mate, he would destroy me.

My wolf was whining in my head, telling me to stop being so stupid and to take back my words.

"Come on Changbin! We finally met our mate! He's ours, don't let him get away!"

"Shut up. You know what happened with our parents, vampires are scum."

"Our mate isn't like that."

"How do you know?" I felt my body heat up with anger towards my wolf.

He was supposed to be on my side, but he only cared about our mate.

"Look at him, he's adorable. He wouldn't hurt a fly."

"Looks can be deceiving." I refused to argue any longer and pushed my wolf away so he wouldn't bother me any more.
