Jacob sat outside of the small diner, head in hands as he listened to the two girls in front of him talk about where one of them was going to move. He sighed in boredom, not caring about the conversation at all and decided to just shove his mouth full of chips instead.

Paige and Carly were his friends, sure, but that didn't mean he wanted to listen to them have the fiftieth discussion on where Carly was going to move when she left town.

"There's a place in Tribeca for three thousand." Paige commented, pointing one of her dainty fingers at the ad in the newspaper.

Carly looked up with wide eyes. "That's still to expensive. All of the money I saved up won't even cover two months rent. I'd have to work every second I'm not in class until graduation."

Jacob snorted and said, "well then you better work your ass off unless you want to stay in our dead end town." It's not like she was going to find a cheap place to rent.

She gave him an annoyed look, "thank you. You're so helpful."

"I do what I can." He joked with a shrug before eating another chip.

"Carly..." Paige started, leaning forward and looking at her with narrowed eyes. "Don't even think about not going." Carly looked down at her hands before she let a fake smile overcome her lips, mumbling that she wouldn't. "Good because you know how proud I am of you."

"It's just an internship." Carly said, blushing in embarrassment. She would always get like this when the attention was on her.

"At Instyle magazine or would you rather stay working at the waffle house as a waitress forever?" Paige had one of the very magazines in front of her, holding it up for Carly to see. The two girls laughed and Carly agreed with her.

Oh, so when I say something she gets annoyed but when Paige does it, it's all giggles and smiles, Jacob thought with a roll of his eyes. They could be so mean to him sometimes.

Carly's giant of a boyfriend, Wade, came and sat down next to her, giving her a sweet greeting and kissing her on the cheek. "Sorry, there were two, drunk, rednecks wrestling in the bathroom."

She got a look of admiration and replied, "really?" Anyone could tell she loved him and he loved her. The picture perfect relationship people would describe them as.

"There's no rednecks in New York." Paige said, successfully bringing the mood down. The topic on New York was tough for them and they didn't like to talk about it.

"No, there's not." Wade said, clearing his throat awkwardly.

The tension was getting to much for Jacob so he stood up with a huff, "I'm gonna go see what Nick's doing. Hopefully he's not getting into to much trouble." He moved away from the table and into the diner, seeing Nick and Dalton were still on the game machine. Nick was the one actually playing and when Jacob walked up to him, he wound his arms around his waist and hugged him from behind, leaning his chin on his shoulder. "Are you winning?"
