Still a little unsure of how I got back to my room
The night was blurry, but I knew I hadn't planned on coming back
I distract the racing in my mind
By making shapes out of the shadows
Cast across the ceiling
My happy distraction flickers as a car passes outside
The shadows are distorted, and I lose interest
I do not see any more shapes, and don't care enough to search
Instead, I let my gaze drop to the tall window to my right
I can see the dark night sky filled with constellations
My mind is pulled back to another time
I am reminded of that two-story pink-ish house
Of the beautiful flowers, and the park down the street
But, most of all
I am reminded of the nights
When, if I couldn't sleep
I would sneak through my parents' room
Out their window
And sit on the unstable balcony
I would sit there, night after night
Over countless nights, and watch the stars
I made up constellations and stories to match their ever-changing personalities
I was abruptly brought back to the small, dark room
I felt an arm wrapping around me
I looked to my left, and there He was
I poked him for good measure, to make sure he was really there
His previously closed eyes opened
"Sarah, go back to sleep" he says
I poke him again
"What is it, Sarah?" he asked, a little annoyed
"How did you get in here?"
"You let me in the window" he replied casually
I looked around, and noticed his clothes strewn across the room
I was acutely aware of where his arm rested on me
And realized, slightly embarrassed
That I was only in a cami and shorts
"Why are you sleeping next to me?" I asked, trying to piece the puzzle together
"I wanted to be with you." He kissed me on the cheek, I let it slip
"Okay" I smiled my big, ridiculous smile
And let his arms wrap around me a little tighter
And let his face nuzzle into my shoulder, feeling his warm breath on my neck
"Tell me a story?" He asked, after a while of silence
I complied
I started to spin a beautiful tale about dragons and castles when he stopped me
"What?" I asked, puzzled
"I want you to tell me a specific story"
"About what?" I looked him in his green eyes
"About a boy who loves a girl" he smiled
"But, what if the girl loves the boy?" I smiled back
"Then they should be together" he says, pulling me closer
"Yes, they should" he kissed me, then and there
And, he held my hand
I fell asleep, snuggling into his chest
And the shadows passed along our faces
