What happened next

I can't even believe 4 years went by just like that. Kiara has changed.... well not really changed, actually opened up a lot ever since Jay came by. She smiles a lot more nowadays, talks a lot and reads less of sad stories. Its kind of a relief, really, we no longer have to hear who left whom and who died. 😌😌😌. So its really nice. The dark clouds from Kiara's sky were finally clearing out, it seemed. Jay..... well he was actually doing something better than flirting with girls all the time for the first time in his life, unknowingly of course. He didn't actually do anything, he was just.... there.  I tried to get Kiara to tell Jay how she felt,  now that they were really good friends, but each time she would just smile and sigh. I took it as a no. 

It was after our finals that I realized why she did that .

 Jay had hurriedly come to our apartment just after the exams and asked if we wanted to go for a movie and then get dinner outside. We had agreed.  So finally after we ( me and Kiara) got ready and waited for Siya to perfect her hair (she  had taken half an hour to try like.... three different hairstyles and then settled for a simple horsetail ), we went to join Jay and company at the movie theater. 

Turned out that it was not just Jay and his usual friends but some of them had got their girlfriends to come. Siya was pissed off and she had asked Jay why he hadn't told us that we could bring our boyfriends too (though it was only Siya who had a boyfriend) and that if she'd been informed she would've brought Avi ( Siya's boyfriend)  with her. Anyways,  after the movie we had gone to the restaurant for dinner and that is where the incident happened.  

Just as we were all finishing our desserts Jay cleared his throat and said " Um... Guys,  I kind of want to tell you something." Kiara,  who had been awfully quiet during the entire meeting suddenly looked up. I wondered if what Jay had to say had anything to do with her. Jay cleared his throat again and said,  " So...  Anika here is my ,well , my... " . "Girlfriend. ", Kiara finished the sentence for him. Then she gave him a knowing smile. A heavy feeling settled in my gut. I couldn't believe my eyes.  I was expecting Kiara to leave suddenly or something like that. I was very surprised. I smiled and congratulated Jay like everyone else. Siya caught my eye and we exchanged an anxious look. 

After dinner we went back to our flat and Kiara, just like everyday, wished us good night and locked herself up in her room  just like she did before going to sleep. What was making me and Siya anxious was, however, if  Kiara actually went to sleep that night.
