Today had been like any other day; waking up at four in the morning to work the opening shift at your job, spending the day keeping customers satisfied, and then leaving on sore feet and smelling of grease. Groaning as you climbed into your truck, you looked at the small grocery list tucked away in your purse. Walmart it was then.
Pushing the small cart down the aisle seemed to require more energy than your limbs contained, but you forced them to put on just a little more effort. What you didn't know was that a man was watching you from the end of the aisle, with an amused expression as you sleepily perused the canisters of coffee. You barely had enough energy to pick out the correct groceries, let alone pay attention to the people around you, so the handsome man escaped your notice. By the time you had payed and pushed your cart back to your truck, the only thing on your mind was sleep.
Fighting back a yawn, you were jolted awake as the boxes of cereal slipped and fell to the ground. But then someone came from out of nowhere and plucked up the boxes before you could move.
"'ere, let me help you with that." A smooth Scottish voice said, and you looked up to see a dark-haired man with startlingly blue eyes.
"Oh, thank you," You replied, taking the boxes he held out. You attempted to smile. "Just clutzy today, I guess," you joked.
He smiled in return, his teeth pearly white, "'s no problem, 'ave a good day." He dipped his head in farewell and you gave a little wave as he walked away.
'Gee, he was nice', you thought to yourself on the way home. You quickly put the groceries away and hopped in the shower, the water burning away the long day and relaxing your tense muscles. You finally flopped into bed and your head hit the pillow, your eyes shuttered closed and you had no ability to fight it. As sleep pervaded your mind, you had one last conscious thought before you were completely oblivious to the world.
'I wish I could see him again.'
