Somewhere Far Under The Ocean Waves

This is a dream from when I was much younger than I am right now, but it burned into my memory quite well, because I had this dream several times back then, and this may be a cause of why I have thalassophobia now (it means the fear of underwater creatures, drowning, or just simply the sea). Enjoy :3

I ran.

I ran as fast as I could. I didn't know what my destination was, I just had this feeling that something bad was about to happen.

The air was freezing cold as I ran on the thick ice-float, and nothing else was in my vision than the trade ship that was hardly visible because of the huge blizzard that was going on. I felt small tears stinging my eyes when I checked if I was any closer to the ship. It felt like I was running, and not getting any closer.

That moment I heard a cracking noise that made my blood freeze in my veins. I stopped running. I stood on the ice, and looked down to my feet. Until this specific moment I was sure that the ice was thick and massive enough to hold my weight.

It was already too late when I realised I was wrong.

The cracking sound repeated over and over and over again. Have you ever felt that horrific feeling when the solid ground is cracking open under your feet, and you know that no matter how hard you try, you've lost? This was what I felt as the ice-float broke into pieces.

I wanted to scream at the moment when the freezing cold water touched my skin. I wanted, but I couldn't. I tried to reach for something that I could hold into, but nothing was there except for the pieces of the ice I stood on moments before. I didn't feel my legs, I couldn't move. And before I knew it, the ice-floats closed above my head.

I've never been more scared. My body was near to freezing and I had no oxygen left. That was the last moment in my life I exhaled my last breath I was holding in. I immediately inhaled a huge amount of the greenish-blue seawater.

I was drowning.

I was freezing.

And my body was slowly sinking down to the bottom of the ocean.

I was sure I was already dead, yet I could still see what was happening. I wish I couldn't... Far above me, sharks and whales swam, not knowing about the death of a young girl right below them.

I hit he bottom, water filled my lungs, salty water was in my eyes, ears and nose.

The ice broke above me, I could see the shining of the sun for a short moment. Only for a moment, because after, something big and dark stopped above the water.

The trade ship.

A splashing sound was heard as something fell into the water. I couldn't move, I was hopeless. I just watched the object getting closer and closer.

The last thing I remember was the sharp pain, when the anchor pierced through my chest, and pinned me down to the bottom of the ocean, leaving my dead body to float down there, somewhere far under the ocean waves.

Forever.
