Walking down the hall of my new school following at the heels of my homeroom teacher, with each step I become nervous not knowing what to expect. Maybe it's the fact that this is a new school I have never been to before. My thoughts were cut short as we reached the end of the hallway, Mr.Kim turns back to me with a reassuring look.
"Breathe it will be okay." He said smiling ever so slightly.
nodding in response I begin breathing in and out. Once Mr.Kim saw I was fine he reached for the door of the classroom sliding it open, stepping inside, and taking his normal spot at the podium in front of the class. His actions caused the whole class to become silent, everyone is staring up at the front waiting for him to speak. He motioned for me to step inside the class, at first I hesitated but then stepped inside.
I just need to breathe everything will be fine, my thoughts racing. As I stepped inside the class, all eyes were on me. Okay, I think I might die.
"Attention class we have a new student, please greet her with respect." Mr.Kim said sternly being met with silent nods from his students. "You may now introduce yourself." Mr.Kim smiled toward me giving me the gesture to speak.
" Hello," I spoke softly. "My Name is Anna it's nice to meet you." I finish with a weak smile.
The sound of students whispering filled the class, some louder than others.
"You're cute!" a kid in the middle shouted followed by the laughter from the other students.
Blushing I say thank you. " Anna you can have a seat next to Jackson." Mr.Kim said pointing to the back left of the class where a dark-haired boy was sat staring out the window. I slowly made my way over to the boy and stop once I reached the desk.
"Hello it looks like we are going to be desk partners for the year," I said to the boy with a half-smile.
He turned to me with a slight smirk "Lucky me." is all he said before he looked back at the window. Something about the way he looked at me made my heart feel weird. Disregarding the feeling I quickly sat down next to Jackson and tried to focus on class.
Once class ended I took this opportunity to talk to him again but he was already walking out the door. This is going to be a long year I can already tell.
