Doubt Clouded Me

Hesitantly Spike walked holding my hand with worry, his walk wasn't slow yet fast. I never seen Spike this worried about me in a long time, I carelessly held Spike's hand as we got closer to my house. Spike glanced at me "Sam... What's wrong?" "I-If I talk... what if he hears me?" I said as a shiver went up my spine causing goosebumps all over my pale skin. Spike's eyes widened as he started running with me "W-What are you doing?!" I asked as his grip on my hand started to burn as he tugged me along as the house got even closer to view. Once we ran down the street he opened the door for me "Sit" he told me "What if I don't want to?" "Do what I say" he growled at me. I quickly sat as he closed all the blinds and locked the door "Tell me what happened" he said sitting down next to me on both of his legs looking at me with total concern. I licked my lips and looked into his eyes, the words played back in my mind, the scenarios of Josh stalking me and Spike... the scenarios of what Josh would do to me when Spike wasn't by my side.

This frightened me more and more and the fact that I would have to tell Spike about this was unbearable, I didn't want Josh to be hurt because Josh could also hurt me in the time being. I shook my head "I don't-" "Sam if you don't tell me this will screw us up, most importantly you! Now if you tell me one more time that you don't know or want to talk about it then I-" "What? Spike and I had been dating for months and I was not letting go, it was doubt that clouded my mind at this very moment. I sighed "I need some air..." "O-Ok..." Spike said watching me walk out the door. I sat on the step of my house, trying not to cry I heard footsteps once again. The same ones from earlier "Hey babe, I see you got my note!" I looked up to see Josh "W-What note?" "Why are you out here looking sexy as ever and haven't gotten my note?" he asked in surprise as I rolled my eyes "I don't know what note your talking about... I just came out here for some useless air" I scowled and looked away from him "I see... Now... Before we go for our date..." he said sitting next to me and putting his hand on my thigh I quickly scooted away "D-Don't touch me... I um... I never agreed to a date and I just want to be left alone" I said in a shy voice. Josh growled and stood up "I got all dressed nicely for you and your not going with me?! I made the reservations!" I frowned "Shouldn't have since you never knew if I was going!" I said folding my arms.

Josh stomped his foot "Your whore! How dare you fool around with that disgusting man in there and not spend time with me! I love you for goodness sake!" he said slapping me harshly and I hit my head on the cement pillar that held up my porch. I gasped in shock as he turned on his heel and left, I started crying on the top step. The tears fell down quickly and I heard the door behind me open "Sam?" I ignored Spike as he sat down next to me "Are you alright?" he asked pushing a strand of my hair back "I didn't... I didn't mean to make you cry" "I-It's not you..." I muttered and felt get closer to me "Then what is it?" I lifted my head from off of my knees and looked out onto the street "Sam what the hell happened?!" Spike asked in shock as he noticed the bruise on my cheek and the blood slowly dripping off my forehead. I covered my face "I-" "Get in the house, I have to fix your head" "Are you gonna play doctor Spike with me?" I asked giggling "There's my girl I know and love" he said bringing me into the house.
