miracle's pov

"DANIEL BEHIND YOU!" i yelled and he managed to swing his bat right at the 'grown ups' face. it stumbled to the floor and fell flat, it didn't get up again.

"that's the last of them" he looked around. "come one, lets go back and check on the kids" i said. "GUYS HELP!" we turned around immediately to see zach huddled up by some 'grown ups'. both of us ran as fast as we could to get him but failed. they took him away before we could get to him.

"he's gone"

"DANIEL HE'S GONE! WHAT WILL GRAYSON THINK OF ME?! I'M SUPPOSED TO BE TAKING CARE OF THE KIDS AN I'VE ONLY GONE AND LOST ONE!" i yelled. "calm down" daniel tried to calm me. "i can't! grayson is going to to hate me after this!" i put my face in my hands.

"let's just go and check on the rest" daniel says in a calming voice. "ok" i sigh and went back into the target with daniel making sure the steel shutters were sealed closed.

"MIRACLE! i can't find zach. he's not in here and i'm scared" reese said while tugging on the bottom of my skirt.

what am i supposed to do?

"he's umm...." i think of what to say.

"the 'grown ups' took him" daniel says.

"what the heck dani, why would you say that?!" i glare at him. "and lie to her? she was going to find out one way or another" he says.

"he's not gone. zach is my big brother, he's not gone, he's strong..." she said crying.

i felt bad for her, but everyone lost someone. she's just a 5 year old girl, what am i supposed to do?

"CORBYN!" i yell. "yes?!" he responds. "take care of reese" i said and he nods. "ok. reese come with me" she held his hand and he took her to his usual spot. he's always there.

"i'm going to check on the rest" daniel says and i nod. "ok"

oh, my bad. sorry, i haven't even introduced myself.

i'm miracle. just miracle my last name doesn't matter right now. or ever anymore. i'm just plain old miracle. i practically live in target with with people i don't really know. well, i have been living with them for a year. i think? time doesn't matter, nothing matters. only thing that matters right now is just, water, food, energy, sticking together, and most of all, surviving.

if you don't know what's going on, you most likely don't, well so there is this disease that makes people over 24, into zombies. yeh zombies don't really sound scary or real, but now they exist and they are really scary. they aren't the stupid ones you see on tv. well, they do look disgusting and dangerous and hungry. we all call them 'grown ups' because you know they are grown ups. so now we need to survive so they don't eat us like zach.

i was scared, scared about how grayson was going to think about me. loosing zach. he was only 15. i sat down in a lonely corner and dug my face in my knees and cried.

"miracle?"

i looked up and quickly wiped my tears away. i have to be and look strong after all i am second in command.
