Let's start with addition. Honestly it can be tricky ngl
So uh let's see
254+68=?
Well if you can't do this in your head I'm here to ease your mind.
There's an easy way to set this up, as you may already know
the cross that you see represents addition; adding. You're adding 68 more units to already 254 units. Please don't ask why.
Stay within the lines. Imagine there are lines separating every unit place. In this particular expression there is a hundreds place, a tens place, and a ones place because the number 254 is read as two-hundred fifty four. There are two sets of one hundred and 5 sets of ten and 4 sets of one.
Okay, now that you know this you can add better. There is 6 tens in the number 68 and 8 ones.
You always add from the right side first. Which means always starting at the ones place.
You would add the 4 ones to the 8 ones which gives you 12 ones. Then you can add the 5 tens to the 6 tens which gives you 11 tens. Add this all together.
The 200 remains the same.
11 tens= 110
12 ones= 12
2 hundreds= 200
110+12+200=322
The answer is 322.
254+68=322
There's another quicker way to do this:
The highest the ones place can go up is really 9. So once something is 10 it goes to the tens place.
Example:
8+3=?
11 exceeds the ones place .
