Ink finally managed to squirm free from Nightmare's tentacles and landed roughly on his feet, his eyes began flaring with a protective crimson. Dream shot a glance of concern to his brother.

"Well? Did you poison the tree?" The bright skeleton's tone had fallen into a stern snarl.

Ink froze. His scarlet orbs scanned the ground before perking up, staring at the tree. It was  dying; the leaves were splotching with mottles of black and the apples were rotting. The artist had to stifle a grin. Dream followed the protector's train of sight and gasped at the sight.

"You did!" he hissed, "why- Why did you do this?"

Ink couldn't suppress the smirk and he straightened up.

"Oh, Dream, you'll understand sooner or later-" the artist said,

"Monster!" Nightmare roared suddenly.

He leapt forward. Ink flinched back but Nightmare had already snatched him up and had thrown him viciously against the earth. The oozing skeleton raced swiftly up to the now barely conscious artist and held him down with two tentacles. Ink writhed helplessly beneath him until Dream interrupted once again,

"Nightmare! Come on we don't have time for this we need to find a way to save the tree!" He gasped.

There was a brittle silence between the three skeletons. After a while, Nightmare blew his tentacles brutally over Ink's body, making black liquid spray out of his mouth. Nightmare picked the weakened protector up,

"I don't want to see your face here ever again, I'll let someone else deal with you." He growled.

Ink was thrown through the portal back to the doodle sphere, but once he opened his eyes, he saw nothing but a black, white space with blue ropes threading the 'wall'. This wasn't the doodle sphere...

This was the Anti-void.
