This is it I thought to myself nervously looking down at the beautiful bouquet of flowers I'm holding. I than looked at my life long best friend Layla smiling happily at me as we walk through the doors of the church with the flower girls and the two other bridesmaids. I begin to walk down the aisle with my long dress trailing along the ground as I walk.
I saw Calvin in his sharp black suit with a red dicky bow you can tell he is a model. He ran his hand through his curly hair as he watched his bride walk down the isle. He gave me a smile, reminding me of the first time we ever met, giving me shivers. I knew what I felt about him was real at this point, I had no doubt in my mind I was meant to be with Calvin, his muscular arms were meant to be wrapped around me when we dance, his dimples were meant to be mine when I tell him a joke sending him into uncontrollable laughter, his deep silver eyes were meant to be fixed on me forever, his curls were meant to be mine to play with while we watched movies on the couch on saturday evenings but I also knew that we would never be like that again and as I walk passed Calvin my eyes locked with his and I knew he was thinking the same as me.
I stood beside the altar as Layla walked down the aisle in her beautiful long wedding dress, and once she made it to the altar she passes me the bouquet of flowers she was holding as walked down the aisle. I take them as we had arranged, it was one of my many duties as maid of honor.
The groomsmen, the rest of the bridesmaids and I walk down the front row of the church and watched my best friend marry my perfect match. A tear rolled down my face as Calvin and Layla looked over at me, Layla smiled at me thinking I was crying happy tears but Calvin frowned because he knew the true reason I was crying.
I know I probably sound like a horrible best friend, and I was but... okay so there was no excuse for feeling like this towards my best friends fiance but my feelings for him didnt start while they were dating or even when they knew eachother. One could argue that it would of been me standing up there next to Calvin that day if I hadn't messed everything up all those years prior to their wedding.
*5 years before the wedding*
"And we danced all night to the best song ever! We knew every line, now I cant remember how it goes but I know that I won't forget her-" I sang along to One Direction as my car suddenly stopped with a loud bang in the middle of a tired of road I had been driving on after having gotten lost about twenty minutes before this. I opened the hood of my car and a puff of steam came out. "Just great" I muttered to myself as I sat back into my car to keep out of the rain. I got out my phone to call for help but I had no service and even if I had service I had no Idea where I was.
So I decided to stay in my car and wait for the rain to stop, however after half an hour of waiting it had only gotten heavier. When an expensive looking car came driving down the road, this was the only other car i had seen since I got stranded so I got out and tried flag it down. Thankfully I managed to persuade the car to stop and they rolled down their window. "Excuse, do you happen to have service on your phone, my car broke down and I've got no service" I say and try to look in at who I'm speaking to. "You won't get any service out here I'm afraid" He says as I got to see him properly. It was Calvin who I instantly felt a connection with. "I could take you into town and you could make a call their" He says. "And why should I get into a car with you a complete stranger" I asked crossing my arms trying to seem tougher than I was although I still looked ridiculous in the pouring rain at half nine at night wearing shorts and a fluffy jumper soaked to the bone.
He remains silent, "Any moment now, Its not like I'm getting soaked or anything" I say impatiently. "Okay fine I can't think of a reason other than I'm a good human being who loves saving a damsel in distress" He laughs. "Listen here, curly I'm not in distress this is merely a slight inconvenience in my fairy tale" I said. "I won't take up anymore of your time" He says. "But let me have a slight knight in shining armor moment will you?" He asked. "Depends what that moment involves" I say warily. "Allow me to give the fair maiden my jacket" He smiles. "But how would I give it back to you?" I asked confused. "Give it back to me on our date" He smiles. "Date?" I asked confused. "My number is on a business card in the pocket he says handing me his jacket and driving away.
"Call me" He yells loudly. "Don't count on it" I yell with a grin on my face. I got back into my car and put on his warm jacket that's way to big for me I put my hand into the pocket and pull out a business card. Calvin O Sullivan, modeling of course he was a model I mean only I would run into a model when I look like a drowned rat having a bad hair day.
After about fifteen minutes a taxi pulls up next to my car closely followed by a tow truck. "Hi Mam Calvin called us to help you out" The taxi driver said as I rolled down my windows. "Calvin O Sullivan?" I asked. "The one and only" The truck driver said getting out and hooking my car to this tow. "I've been instructed to drive you to wherever you wish to go" The Taxi driver says. "Um ten seconds, I say turning to the Tow truck driver, "Here I'll give you my number and you can ring me with any updates" I smile.
I got into the taxi and smile at the driver. "Could you please tell me where was Calvin when he rang you" I asked. "Yeah he was at the town hall, why?" He asked confused. "Can you take me to him?" I asked, "I have something tha belongs to him" I added with a smile looking down at his business card.
After fifteen minutes we arrived at a large stone building, I opened the front door and went over to a group of teen girls who were standing in front of a door. "Excuse me, but have ye seen a guy called Calvin?" I asked. "Calvin O Sullivan?" The tallest girl asked. "Why are you looking for my brother" She adds. "I need to return something belonged to him" I say. "His in the main hall, setting up the rehearsal for tomorrow we're just waiting for him to drive us home" An other girl answers. "Right thanks" I say as i enter a room saying "Main hall" on the door.
"Hey" I smiled as I walked into the large hall where Calvin was. He was setting up chairs into a large circle. He looked up and stared at me, confused to why I was there. "I'm here to give you you're jacket" I say walking up to him. "You could of given it back to me another time you have my number" He said still laying out the chairs. "Oh um do you need a hand?" I asked walking over to the stack of chairs and begun to place them in the circle. "Its for an acting thing I'm doing with the little kids from around here" He says. "That's cute" I smile. "What play?" I asked. "Rapunzel mixed with Cinderella" He answered. "My two favourite fairy tales" I said. "I should probably let you get on with you're organising" I said taking off his jacket.
"Um.... I still don't know you're name" Calvin said. "Its Maya" I said walking back to him to give him his jacket. "Well Maya, its getting late and you're car is in the garage. They will probably have it fixed by tomorrow and if you like you can come back with me. My mom owns the B&B down the road and if you want to you can stay there" Calvin says. I probably should of said no, I mean I barely knew anything about Calvin now, if I did say no it would of saved me a lot of heartache but I'm glad I answered him with a yes.
"I'd love to" I grinned. "I can finish setting here up in the morning, I just need to drop my sisters friends home before we go back to the B&B" He said as he took my hand in his. I know this sounds cliche but i felt sparks when his hand touched mine, like I had been struck by lightening but in the best way possible.
We dropped his sister Olivia and her friends off at one of their houses for a sleepover and we drove to the homely looking B&B his family owned. He booked me into a room and escorted me to it. We walked down the long corridor leading to the last room, room 15. He opened the door for me. "Right thanks so much Calvin" I smiled. "I'll see you in the morning" I said about to walk into the room when he spun me around a kissed me. "Well than... goodnight" I said ending the kiss abruptly and going into my room, shutting the door behind me.
