"Minho?" I gasped.
Standing there was my old friend who dare I say hasn't aged a bit. He still looked like the boy I met in the maze, compared to Newt. He walked over slowly as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"When the kid said that you woke up, I couldn't believe it. So I had to come and see it for myself. See you alive and well." He said looking down at the ground. "I honestly lost hope in you Thomas."
He took a deep breath and looked at me. He was crying. Something he rarely did in front of anyone. I felt sorry for him and the hurt I unwillingly caused him.
"I'm sorry." I heard him say.
"No. Don't be please. I'm the one who should be sorry for making you and everyone else worry for so long." I said as I looked to him and Newt.
Minho then came up to me and hugged me. "It is not your fault Thomas." Our embrace was held for a while as we made up for all the ones we missed over the years. He was the one to break away from it and he pulled a chair next to Newt.
"What now?" I sighed as I broke the comfortable silence. "What do I do? What have I missed?"
"Those are all great questions and luckily for you my friend we have all the answers." Newt said. "For now we'll let you relax maybe say hi to some of our old friends. Then we'll slowly help you get your strength back."
"Good thing you've got me around bud. I'll have you back into shape in no time." Minho stated, flexing his biceps. It's nice to see that he hasn't changed as much.
I laid on the bed, deep in thought. Catching up with everyone would be nice but I definitely need to get my strength back up. Before I could say anything else the three of us started to hear a crowd getting closer and closer to the entrance of the room. I think Newt could sense that I was feeling uneasy because he put a hand on my shoulder giving me a sign of reassurance. Within seconds most of the crowd were in the room looking at me as if I was some phenomenon.
Newts little boy ran up to him and jumped in his arms. "When I said the others I didn't mean the entire colony." Newt told him.
"I'm sorry Daddy I couldn't hold my excipement!" Roman exclaimed mispronouncing the last word as he threw his little arms up in the air.
I gave Newt a smile letting him know that I was okay despite the fact I was still feeling overwhelmed by all the stares and glances. As I looked out at everyone I saw some familiar faces Frypan, Vince, and Brenda. It felt like a dream to me. To have all my friend with me, well almost all of them.
Brenda was the first one to approach me. Her hair was longer, she looked a lot stronger, she grew up and was still beautiful. She had tears filling up her eyes, her lips quivered as she looked at me. Her expression then went from awe to anger.
"Hey Bren." I said cautiously. "It's good to see you."
Her breathing got heavier and she said "I thought we lost you." The tears were now falling down her face. I think this was the first time I've ever seen her cry. Not even when she faced death did she let one single tear fall from her face.
"I'm sorry." I whispered not looking at her. I heard her let out a small chuckle before I felt her hug me.
"Don't you ever do something stupid like that again. Okay?" She told me.
"I won't I promise." I said as she pulled away from the hug. "I can't believe I got two of the strongest people I know to cry for me." I teased.
Brenda just rolled her eyes and wiped at her tears.
