louis checked the time on his phone and sighed as he saw the numbers that read 5:37. he didnt get off work until 8 pm.
he glanced up to make sure nobody was at the register before sending a text to his girlfriend, eleanor.
from louis: hey! want to hang out tonight? we can watch a movie at mine
from el:sounds perfect! ive been wanting to see you lately
from louis: okay, ill pick you up after i get off work, see yo-
louis heard the sound of someone clearing their throat and looked up slowly, hoping it wasnt his boss. he visibly relaxed as his blue eyes met green ones.
“hi, um, where is the dog food at?” the curly haired man asked.
“oh yeah, sorry about that. follow me,” louis said as he got up from his seat and went around the counter to lead him.
the tall, lanky man followed not too far behind him toward the correct aisle.
“well, here it is. so, im guessing you have have a dog?” louis tried to make conversation with a rhetorical question.
‘yes, this just isnt for him. i run an animal shelter,’ he replied.
“really? so how old do you need to be to adopt a dog? ive been looking into it lately.”
“18, if not, then you would need a parent to fill out the paperwork for you.”
“okay, thanks, im louis by the way,” louis smiled and reached his hand out to him.
“im harry,” harry blushed in return and shook louis’s hand. harry began to grab a bag of the needed dog food.
“no no, ill get that for you,’ louis bent over and picked up the big bag and carried it up to the register, “is this all?”
“i believe so, if not then ill be back soon,” harry answered and grabbed his wallet out of his pocket, handing louis his debit card.
louis swiped the card and confused look was etched on his face as a message popped up on the computer screen. “your card was declined, do you have a different one?”
“shit, no i dont. is there some way i can pay you back later?” harry immediately looked like the definition of stress.
“its fine, ill just pay for it,” louis grabbed some cash from his back pocket.
“i cant let you do that.”
“yes you can, and will, just consider it a donation.”
“thank you so so so much louis,” harry still intended on paying him the money back some time or another.
“anytime, harry, ill carry the bag out to your car for you,” louis picked up the bag and walked to the door before harry could say anything against it, “you coming? i kinda of need someone to open the door for me,” louis called at harry who was still standing at the register.
“oh, um, coming,” harry mumbled and ran over to open the door for louis, “my car is this way,” he led louis to his old jeep. he opened the door and a faint dog smell wafted out.
louis placed the bag on the back seat and harry closed the door. “so ill be seeing you round, right?”
“definitely, ill even bring in my dog with me next time,” harry smiled as he got into the driver seat, “see you louis.”
“see you harry,” louis smiled as harry pulled out of the store’s parking lot. now he just had to survive about two more hours before his shift would finally be over.
AN: hi, so this is my first fic and yeah, there might be mistakes (mostly likely will be). if you hadnt figured out yet, the lowercase is on purpose. so ill try and update as much as i can, so yeah.
