Chapter Nine
The next morning was really, really, stressful! Tana woke me up in the middle of the night and wanted to talk and I being the nice girl I am let her tell me in detail what happened for three hours! Three very LONG hours! But if felt good, it felt like I was getting closer to Tana and I missed that! But seriously this girl needed to get her life straightened around, cocaine? Really? Speaking of Tan I looked over at her, her brown hair was frizzy and dangerously in every direction, her skin was a little pale for her with chapped lips. The consequence of having a “good time” I swear I’m never drinking again!
“Tan we gotta go to school soon,” I had woke up thirty minutes before and took my shower and was debating between two outfits. Tana stirred but didn’t fully wake up. “Tana… come on, wake up!” I shook her gently brushing her hair out of her face trying to get her lazy bum to wake up.
“Five more minutes!” She exclaimed lazily, I groaned and got completely ready. Finally I heard the water turn on and she jumped into the shower, good! I shut the door with my purse on my right shoulder; I almost knocked my mom down.
“Oh sorry!” I exclaimed already on my caffeine high, her eyes matching mine widened.
“It’s okay; I need to ask you something.” She looked at me with those worried parent eyes, uh oh this wasn’t good.
“Sure thang, but make it quick I’m already running late and Tana isn’t even half ready yet!” I stammered trying to shut my other thoughts up, my heart was racing so fast in my chest I was growing worried about it.
“This won’t take very long.” She murmured fiddling with her hands, the urge to bite my lip was getting unbearable.
“Okay shoot mom.” I said slouching my posture a little.
“Well I just wanted to say that you’ve been very mature about… well about everything for the past couple weeks and your father and I were thinking you needed a present!” My mom squealed like some happy little kid, I cracked a smile but only by default. I should’ve been really guilty since I hadn’t been mature and I hadn’t been a good “kid” lately. Having sex with someone you can’t remember on your sixth birthday isn’t exactly material to win “world’s best teenager” award.
“Um okay.” I shifted a little uncomfortable thinking back at the past couple days, waking up half naked at Johnny’s house hadn’t been exactly a good memory. And then picking Tana up, God only knows what would’ve happened with Tana.
“Yeah well anyways we just wanted to give you some money to go shopping for the dinner with your cousins and Aunt Liv and Davey.” I nodded, now I got it. My mom and Liv didn’t like each other; in fact that was an understatement. Hate was more like it, anytime Liv and Davey came over with their demon-of-a pair of daughters it was pure torture. Rein wasn’t too bad; she had thick brown hair that was annoyingly perfect with ocean blue eyes that seemed to be passed down in the family. Lively was the one that got on my last and final nerve each time, she was a year older and always brought her boyfriend-of-the-week with her, they would make out anytime they could and once they had sex in the spare bedroom. Mom flipped some ducks when she found out about that, I wonder who told on them? Oh yeah me! At least Lively remembers who she has sex with, or at least when and who she lost her virginity to!
“Oh okay.” I heard the water click off and Tana’s music flooded into my room, my mom seemed lost in thought too.
“Well I’ll let you two get ready, and if you want to go shopping after school you can the money will be dropped into your account.” She nodded promptly like she was talking to a client and then walked down the hall her heels clicking melancholy. I turned away slightly annoyed with my mother professionalism in our own house.
