Chapter 11: Maybe, Just Maybe
written in third person's povWalking peacefully with light and careful steps, Seungmin wandered around their garden with a camera in hand, capturing the flowery scene surrounding him as the cold breeze gently brushed against his skin.
During his day off, he would always spend his time in the garden, watching the flowers sway and admiring the captivating scenery he took part in planting and decorating.
If not taking pictures, he would read novels or hum a calming tune while strumming his guitar; some hobbies of his that don't really match his cold and arrogant personality as most people say.
The young man sat on a white, classy bench, taking a break from his photography session when someone suddenly sat beside him.
"Dad?" Seungmin exclaimed upon seeing his father, who warmly smiled at him.
"May I see?" Hyunsik asked, staring at the camera that his son was holding.
With his lips curving into a genuine smile, Seungmin pressed certain buttons on his camera, letting his father examine the pictures he had just taken.
Hyunsik was the one who opened Seungmin's heart to photography, and back then, they would always travel the world; not just to capture the aesthetic scenery but to appreciate and preserve every story that a single still frame holds.
The young one was happily showing off his snaps, not knowing that his father was not paying attention to them at all.
"Seungmin-ah..." Hyunsik called in a seemingly sad and disappointed tone.
Upon hearing so, Seungmin turned his head to the side to look at his father, only to realize that Hyunsik's eyes were focused on his hand instead of the pictures he was showing him.
There was a moment of silence between the two, changing the calm and peaceful atmosphere into an awkward and stifling one until Seungmin decided to speak.
"I'm sorry..." was all he could say as he kept his head down.
A deep sigh escaped Hyunsik's lips, staring at his son for a whole minute before getting something from his pocket.
He then grabbed Seungmin's hand, carefully putting a bracelet around his wrist.
"That's..." Seungmin trailed off, recognizing the silver jewelry that his father made him wear.
"That's mom's..."
Hyunsik stared at his eyes, giving a quick nod before glancing at the said jewelry as well.
"You're not just inflicting pain on yourself when you do that. You're hurting your mother too. I hope you'll keep that in mind. Your mother wouldn't be pleased to see shades of red and purple on your knuckles. She hates those colors, after all."
Seungmin remained silent, staring at the urn bracelet with his heart shattering into pieces.
No tears were escaping the young one's eyes, but it surely left a painful and suffocating feeling inside his chest.
Hyunsik could only sigh, placing a hand on his son's shoulder.
"I should've given you that sooner."' He said, blaming himself for being selfish and keeping it with him for so many years despite knowing that Seungmin needs it more than him.
