My head was pounding, I felt sick.

   Did I drink last night?

I groaned and opened my eyes. My vision was blurry but I could see people.

     "She's awake again." Someone whispered.

I could hear footsteps then a door close. My vision became clear as my eyes adjusted to the light.

The walls were plain white and beige curtains hung all around my bed. The smell of cleaning supplies was thick in the air. There was an annoying beeping sound on my left and my body ached.

"Fuck." I said in a strained voice.

I noticed a unopened bottle of water near my bed and drank from it. Then I remembered what happened. The sound of glass. The twisting of the metal. Me screaming.

A woman wearing light blue scrubs came into the room with a boy about 12 years old following behind her.

"Hi. Mona Franklin, I'm doctor Taylor. Do you know where you are?" She asked quietly.

     "In a hospital I think." I responded.

"Okay good. You were in a car accident and you're here in a private hospital. You have been asleep for only one day but you did sustain some injuries. You have a concussion and two bruised ribs. Your left ankle is broken and your right wrist in is strained." She explained.

I nodded and she began writing on a clipboard.

"A private hospital? Like Kaiser or something ?" I asked.

Is kaiser even private?

She smiled and shook her head. "Not like Kaiser. We're a very small community some of our boys found you out on the road."

"When do I get discharged? I should probably go home." I said, panic in my voice.

Even if it's only been a day I know my mom would be worried about me. I wouldn't be surprised if she called every hospital and county jail in the state of Georgia.

"Oh you shouldn't go home just yet. I saw your license you're from California. The plane ride would be too long for you injuries. You should wait a few weeks before going anywhere." The doctor suggested.

"But I have to let my parents know I'm not dead! I can't be stuck here they'll freak out you-"

"We have a phone you can use everything will be just fine and your parents will understand. They found your phone in the car but it's been completely smashed." She interrupted.

"T-thank you." I mumbled.

It's a good thing I remembered my Mom's phone number because I would be screwed if I didn't.

The doctor explained a few more things to me before leaving the room. I had all but forgotten about the boy in the room. He smiled and leapt onto the foot of my bed.

"I thought you were going to die. The car wasn't on fire but you were so bloody and I," He paused for a second before continuing his hyper rant. "It was so gory! Your leg was all twisted it's crazy that it's not even broken. But my brother would've carried you himself if he would've found you! I had to call Sam and he's kinda-"

This kid can really talk.

"Thanks for helping me but what's your name?" I asked.

I wanted him to answer one question and he answered about nine I didn't even ask. His name Ben James and he's actually 11. He goes to school in this little community with about 30 other kids. He doesn't like the letter X because he claims it isn't useful. He also knows he talks to much.

I was able to walk to the bathroom with the aid of a crutch. There I examined myself. My hair was a complete mess there were small cuts on my face from the glass and my legs looked like purple potatoes. My torso was bruised as well but mainly around my rib cage. I looked like I had been thrown out of a building and had glass thrown at me.

There were toiletries left unopened in the bathroom so I took a shower. The warm water soothed my skin even though I still felt like shit. It was like taking a shower when you're really sick. My body just ached everywhere.

I didn't think about clothing after my shower but Ben was nice enough to bring a large grey t-shirt and oversized black shorts in the room for me. He wasn't in there but he scared the shit out of me when he yelled my name from outside the door.

"I'll be waiting out here when you're done!" He continued.
I sighed and it hurt but once I was done I opened the door and walked towards him at the end of the hallway. He ran away and I was confused but I kept walking anyway.
I could hear something clicking really fast down the hall, before I could even guess what it was Ben came running while pushing a wheel chair.

"Sit. Sit." He chanted. "I'll be your tour guide today. Our hospital here is very small because our pac- community is very small and we don't get hurt around here."

He explained all of this while pushing me down one hallway and turning down another. I could see a natural bright light. It was the sun.

"Hey I don't think I'm allowed outside let's just stay in here okay?" I said.

Obviously my words went into one ear and out the other because he spun my chair around making the wheels squeak and opened the doors backwards. We went down a ramp, I let out a small gasp.

Their community was literally in the middle of the woods. I could see houses then only trees, it was like a small neighborhood.

"We're not going too far only right here to the front. They can still see us. You're the only patient anyway you get special treatment." He explained.

There weren't paved roads just dirt but the area was nice the hospital just looked like a big house from the outside. People were outside and kids were laughing.

"My brother is gonna bring the phone for you to use while you're here that's part of the reason we're outside too. Plus my dad said that women are flowers and I know that flowers need sun." He said with a wide smile.

He sat down in front of my wheelchair in the grass while I just shook my head laughing. He's adorable for sure.

"Well what are men then?" I asked jokingly.

He thought for a second before responding.

"I don't know. Whats the opposite of a flower?" He asked. "Maybe men are like bushes or something."

Just then I felt the weirdest twitch I my heart, deep in my soul. The words he spoke sounded almost magical and he wasn't even talking to me.

"Ben here's the phone. We also need to set- who are you?" This man!

His skin was glowing bright but his smile was even brighter. He seemed happy to see me and I felt like I was supposed to know him. His short wavy brown glistened like glitter in the sun and he was huge! I 5'8 which I thought was y'all, he had to be 6'4 who knows. He was built like a Greek god I could see his muscles through his T-shirt even the ones on his legs through his sweat pants.

I was taken aback by what I was witnessing in real life.

"I'm Mona." I said slightly shocked.
