Chapter 3: The Tributes

Somehow, I stumbled my way into a massive room that was furnished to look like a living room, though I highly doubted that was what it was actually for. Sitting on the couches were all the civilian tributes, and Johnny Storm; also known as the Human Torch.

Like with Clint, I faced the dilemma of not knowing what to call him. I decided I'd figure it out when and if he talked to me.

"Estelle right?" Asked the bubbly blonde girl, tho only other female tribute for this years Marvel Games.

"Yeah." I racked my brain for her name. "You're Lenora?"

"I prefer Nora." She shrugged and patted the spot next to her for me to sit down. She was dressed in the same loose fitting pyjamas as I was which made me feel a little less self conscious. The guys were all dressed in the same clothes as well, except their pyjamas actually fit them.

"How's your trainer?" Nora asked, "Natasha is such a hard-ass." It took me a moment to remember that Natasha was Black Widow's real name.

"Clint's great." I told her, "We haven't had time to train yet but he's already giving me tips. He's nice."

"Well at least you guys have cool trainers," A boy with dark hair and skin chimed into our conversation, "I have to put up with Mister Fantastic. The guy is useless."

"Jack!" Nora exclaimed, "That's a horrible thing to say, he's helping you."

I cleared my throat, "And his wife's brother is sitting right next to you, just saying."

"Crap, sorry dude." Jack apologised even though we all knew he didn't mean it. Johnny didn't do anything in response to Jack, I guess switching on his powers wasn't an option since that wasn't allowed outside of the training rooms -and he didn't have his flame-proof suit on.

Jack was the boy I'd seen running up to Mister Fantastic, six foot three and full of muscle. He had dark skin, dark hair and dark eyes. I'd only known him for two minutes and I already knew that if we weren't in this situation, I'd hate his guts. Actually, I already did hate him.

"I heard we have our first interviews coming up." Luke said, changing the subject.

Luke was a little shorter than Jack, about six foot. He was more on the lanky side but he'd still pack a pretty mean punch. He had shaggy brown hair and light brown eyes that had some kindness in them, but I knew that wouldn't matter. Not in this situation. Outside of the Games I thought I might have gotten along with him.

"Fun!" Nora smiled, "We'll get to be on millions of tv screens around the world."

"Yeah, and then we'll all get massacred on international tv." Johnny said, speaking for the first time. But he didn't look at any of us, he just stared in front of himself, blankly. "You realise that right? This is the ultimate reality show, you live or you die."

I heard a small squeak from Nora, her bottom lip trembled as tears rolled down her cheeks. Another sob escaped from her lips before she pushed herself off the couch and ran out of the room.

The last male tribute's name was Ryan, he was shorter than the other two, only about five foot ten, but he still dwarfed Nora and I. He had cropped short blonde hair and piercing blue eyes that left me cringing in my seat. He gave off the same creepy, douche bag vibe that Jack did.

"Nice one, douche bag." Ryan glared at Johnny as he got up and followed Nora down the hall, Jack and Luke close behind.

Looks like they'd already worked out their alliance, a few hours into the Games and I was already two steps behind everyone else.
