Prophecy

It was as Justin was heading back to the cabin that Lennae was running through the forest. This time she had wanted to run. It wasn’t one of those nights that it annoyed her to wake up in cat form. She knew exactly where she wanted to go. It was the redhead’s office cabin. Why? She didn’t know. It was just calling her.

She stopped outside it and crawled under the steps. She listened intently, wondering what she was doing awake so late. The redhead was saying something about a prophecy. Lennae tasted the air. Someone was in there with her. Was it Bird? Possibly.

“These are the three the prophecy meant. Remember, it said,’ Betrayal will come from one deeply trusted. One will return to find the ashes of their friendship gone. They shall be found with another,’” the redhead said. Lennae’s eyes widened. Was this really meant for her and her friends?

“Of course I remember. How could I forget? We get a prophecy for each new camper but these three have a mysterious way of making theirs fit together. We should keep an eye over them,” a voice that sounded like Bird’s but wasn’t exactly right said. Lennae puzzled over this. She headed back to her cabin.

She quickly drifted back into a deep sleep.

Rebecca woke up just in time to see Justin walking back in to the cabin. She sat up. “Shoot,” she muttered under her breath when her hit the ceiling. She glared at him. “Where have you been?” she asked.

“Fell over a lot on the way to the bathroom,” he said. He went back towards his bed. He saw her glaring at him. Then Justin remembered his nose. He wiped away the blood quickly. “Really, I did.” She saw him lay back down.

Rebecca’s eyes scanned the room. Something was different about tonight. Justin was covered in bruises and it had to been a fight because there was a bathroom in the cabin. Wonder if he will be ok, Rebecca thought. Justin had got into a fight and Lennae wasn’t tossing and turning like she usually did back at camp. Lennae even fell off the bed sometimes. She must have woken up, earlier and had been running again. Oh well. This day was going to be long so she decided to get some more sleep. It took Rebecca a while to go back to sleep but when she did it was a dreamless slumber.
