Chapter 10

Jay's POV
I turned my attention to Val where she was standing in the kitchen grabbing herself a bowl of clam chowder. I head over to her to lend her a hand.

"Here, let me get you the chowder. You sit over there and I'll bring it over" I said grabbing the bowl from her hands

"It's fine, I can grab it myself" she said reaching for the bowl in my hand

"I insist" I said moving the bowl away from her

"Honestly Jay, it's just chowder" she said taking her seat

"And you're under my care tonight until Gabbie and Matt come back. So stop fussing and let me take care of you" I said

I scoop the chowder into the bowl and grabbed a spoon and brought it over to the dining table where Val sat. I placed it down in front of her before taking my seat across from her.

"You're not eating?" Val asked while blowing on the chowder

"No I'm not hungry" I said

"If you say so" she said

-15 minutes later-

After Val finished eating, we sat in the living room and watched whatever was on tv. I sat on one end of the couch while Val sat on the other end. As the night went on, I would glance over at her to make sure she was okay.

"Are you comfortable?" I asked

"I'm fine. Just gonna lay here for a bit" she said

"Do you want a blanket?"

"I'm okay. Thanks"

-3 hours pass-

Some reality tv show was on in which I didn't really pay attention to. I was mainly on my phone the whole time. I checked the time and it was 2am. I looked over from hearing light soft snores and Valerie was deeply asleep. I get up from my position and turned off the tv. I walked over to Valerie quietly and placed hands under her and lifted her slowly trying not to wake her up. I carried her into her room and placed her on her bed and pulled the covers over her. I walked over to the other side of the bed and got in and pulled the covers over myself. I turned off the bedside lamp and laid down facing the ceiling with my hand behind my head. Valerie shuffles and turns and moves closer to me. I lay my arm out and she snuggles up against my chest. I pull the covers up more and embrace her small body and pulled her closer and closed my eyes.

-Middle of the night (4am)-

Val's POV
(Nightmare)
"Gonna be dead? What do you mean?" I asked

"This is what I mean" he said before stabbing me in my lower abdomen

I scream in agony as I feel my blood soak my shirt"
(End of nightmare)

I sit up screaming. Sweat coming down my face. My breathing becomes uncontrollable. My shirt is soaked as I am bleeding through.

"Valerie! Are you okay!?! I'm here. I'm here!" Jay says sitting up and hugging me tightly

All I could do was cry.

"It felt so real. Please make it stop" I cried

"Shhh he's gone. You're safe now" Jay cooed

I take a deep breath to control my breathing. I hug Jay tighter cause I know that I am safe here with him.

"Oh my god you're bleeding. Here let me fix you up" Jay said looking at my shirt and then grabbing the medical kit

I lift my shirt up above my stomach and peeled the bandage off slowly. Jay cleans up the blood and and then puts a new bandage on. After, I changed my shirt before going back to bed all snuggled up to Jay.
