The Dinamic Duo. That's what they used to call us. We never would go anywhere without each other. The mall, concerts, classes, extra circulars, everything. It was always Simone and Quinn. Quinn and Simone.
Being a child, I foolishly thought it was going to be this way forever. That we were going to grow up, go to the same high school, and the same college. We would then find husbands who were as good friends as us, and we be neighbors, have daughters, and chase our dreams in the music industry.
I dreamed all of this nonsense until high school. Then came the fight. A time I would never forget, when I lost the guy I liked, and my best friend. I never knew what I had before I lost it all.
It happened in freshman year, December, winter break. Since the beginning of that year, I had fallen hard for this guy, Damien. Bad name, good hair, and a pretty good personality. He honestly kinda turned me on. But I knew he had a crush on someone else- Quinn. I didn't tell her that he liked her though. I didn't want them to go out. I wanted him all to myself. This was the first secret I ever hid from her.
Let me tell you something about Quinn. She was outgoing. Loud. She was the good kind of loud though. She was perfect in every sense of the word. In all of middle school, she got only one B on her report card EVER, and she cried for weeks about it. I thought she was awesome. As a best friend, I idolized her. I wasn't as good as her though. I was chatty during class, and usually got grades like A's B's or C's. I was average. She was above average. But she wasn't a goody two shoes. She was kind of obsessed with ambitious experiences. She said the second she turned eighteen, she would go skydiving. When she got into high school, she would lose her virginity. When she got into college, she would ditch classes to go to Six Flags, or other crazy place.
It was that winter break that she lost her virginity, like she promised. It just wasn't with anybody that I thought it would be with. It was Damien.
