Nightmares

"Hey sweetie!" a voice whispered into my cell.

I looked up from the position I was in on my mattress. A tan face was peeking in, with chipmunk cheeks inflating from her gigantic smile. She had deep brown curls with eyes to match.

"Psyche!" I whisper-yelled and sprinted over to her.

"I got a gift for you!" she whispered back and handed me five huge books through the bars. The books were so big, they barely fit, even when turned on their side. "These are the books I was telling you about. The Lightning Thief is the first one. You can stuff them in that big hole you got in your mattress."

"Thank you!" I smiled at her.

She smiled back. "You wanna listen to our song?"

"Yeah!" I yelled and she put one of those little ear plugs in my ear and put the other in hers. She then pressed 'play' on the thing that glowed. We sat back and listened.

"Psyche?" I asked.

"Yeah?"

"What's this song called again?"

She smiled at me. "It's called 'Shoot to Thrill'. It's by a band called AC/DC."

I sat up and screamed. Eyes turned to me. Doctors were all in the room, doing different things. But they weren't what I was worried about.

Syringes. They were everywhere. They were all filled with various liquids. Some doctors were even wielding some. They were dangerously close. For a second, I thought I was in another nightmare. I flailed and kicked and ripped out wires and plugs. I tugged and pulled at the needles in my arms until they finally broke free.

"Ma'am! Ma'am! You need to calm down!" shouted somebody.

I ignored them and jumped out of the bed. I ran towards the door. When people tried to stop me, I pushed them out of the way. When I finally reached the door, I felt a strong hand pull me back and a sharp pinch in my neck. I tried to kick behind me, but with the new onslaught of darkness I simply crumpled.

When I woke again, the Avengers and Fury were standing around me. I sat up quickly, or I would've if I didn't have restraints.

"We will only let you go if we are positive you are calm." Fury said in response to my glare.

Wait a second...he shouldn't have been able to see my glare. I looked around wildly and spotted my hood in the corner, lying limp. I resumed my glare on Fury and changed my eyes to red. He didn't move.

Steve spoke up, "You'll get your hood back, don't worry."

I glanced at him and looked away again. I caught sight of Bruce, who was staring into my eyes in fascination. I gave him a weird look.

"Sorry," he looked away quickly, "It's just...your eyes are fascinating. It shouldn't be humanly possible."

"Yes. It shouldn't." Fury stared at me with his one good eye. "Speaking of which, Banner, could you please show your test results."

"Sure." he said and started typing furiously on a nearby computer. A DNA chain showed. "Now see here," he pointed at a certain part of the chain where there was red spirals and black bars in between. "There is a regular human DNA strand that has been altered with that of a raven's. And here," he pointed to another that was pure black with hints of violet and indigo. "is the DNA strand of the creature called a Wendigo, which was thought to be a myth. Now, see here," he pointed to certain parts of both strands that had either red, blue, purple, or brown splashes on them. "Is chemical alterations of the DNA strands that are used to alter the elements. This, is your DNA." he pointed at me. "Both of these parts of your DNA strand are not too far from each other."

"Very good, Mr. Banner. Anything else?" asked Fury.

"Well...yes..." Bruce glanced at me then quickly looked back at Fury. "But I don't understand it."

"Show me." said Fury.

Bruce leaped to work, typing again furiously at the keyboard, bringing up a photo of to lines going up and down at different times.

"These are her brainwaves." he said. "They appear to be normal, but there is one problem. Here, you can see there is a second brainwave."

There was a silence. "What does that mean?" asked Steve.

Bruce looked at me. "Basically? There is another mind inhabiting her brain. They can communicate at will. For all we know, they could be speaking right now."

They all looked at me. I changed my eyes to a goats, and brought out my fangs, then snarled. They all backed away a half step, except Fury.

There was a long silence. They were all staring at me. No one moved. I doubt anyone breathed. Then, Steve shouted in surprise. He stared at me, unchanging.

"Mr. Rogers! What is the problem?" shouted Fury, furious. Pun intended.

"Sh-she...her..." he pointed at me. "Her cheek!"

Bruce walked up to me, about to turn my head to see my cheek, but hesitated. "May I?" he asked.

I gave a small nod, and he gently turned my head. I flinched at his touch. It's been a while since I've gotten a friendly touch.

There was a collective gasp. "What? What's wrong?" I asked. No one answered. "Tell me! What's wrong?!"

There was a short silence, but then Bruce backed away from me, stared at me with wide eyes. "Mortem, there seems to be um..." he hesitated and looked down. He sighed slowly, then looked up at me. His brown eyes shown with determination.

"There appears to be snake scales on your cheek."

Jello guys!

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a century, you probably hate me. If you have stuck with me this long, thank you so much.

On another note!

I'm thinking about renaming this book Nightmare. I made a cool cover a while back for this book for it, but my friend's book was named Nightmares, so that was out of the picture.

But, her book is gone, so I decided I might rename it. But, I need your guys opinions on it first. So, vote this chapter if you want it to change, and comment if not. Comment:

NO YOU TURTLE! XP

I'll post a picture of the cover I made a while ago on the photo thingy.
