Attack

A country island stood alone in the middle of the ocean. A few small towns were on the tiny piece of land. Only one town stood along the seashore, hoping pirates would never come since, as far the townspeople knew, there was nothing valuable on the island.

A small girl of about sixteen sat at a table with her family inside a house on the seashore town. Her family, a mom and a dad, sat with her eating their dinner. Her dad owned the weaponry for the main city and loved making the weapons. He never had any dream to actually fight for their country but just to supply the swords and shields for the people that did. The mom stayed at home like most women did. The dad had short raven black hair and the mom had long brown hair pulled into a bun. They ate in silence.

“I’m going out. I will be back by dark,” the girl said, standing up from the table. She had no clue she wouldn’t be able to keep that promise as she turned her back, her long black haired braid whipping behind her, and left the house.

She walked down the street, heading for the beach. She liked to go down there sometimes to just relax and daydream what would happen if she went to the real city.

Her green eyes scanned the ocean, looking for anything that could possibly be out there. She wished something would happen for once in her town that was more interesting than the fact that so and so was getting married to so and so.

She stopped to peer closer at something in the distance. She could not figure it out. It made no sense. It was too small to be recognizable. She stood there and waited as it came into view.

After a long while, a humungous ship came into view. It had white sails and, of course, a pirate flag hanging from the top of it. It looked to be in great shape, none of the wood broken or the sails either.

Ella’s mouth gaped. “Aw shit,” she mumbled, watching it come closer and closer at an amazing speed. “They always told me to be careful what I wished for.” She turned and ran, looking for anyone who would believe her that there were pirates coming for their little coastal town.

She had barely made it to the halfway point when the pirates landed behind her. She was too far away to notice this but the pirates saw her. The site of the girl making a run for it excited the pirates. If there was one girl, there were sure to be more, along with the fact that there had to be a city or town some where near by. This was there lucky day.

They had managed to get off the ship as Ella made it to town. She hurried from person to person, trying to convince them that there were pirates coming. No one seemed to believe her, especially since she had been known for tell lies or playing jokes on the town before.

She cursed under her breath, hoping that she would have had better luck. Oh well, maybe she could defend herself or something. Or hide. Hiding always worked. At least, it almost always worked. It depended how good the seeker was.

The first few rows of houses nearest the boats went up in flames. Screams were heard as people realized what was going on. Few people were caught on fire but quite a few were slaughtered by being caught unaware by the pirates. Others had their houses looted and destroyed while a few more tried to defend themselves and their family.

Ella picked up a dropped sword, hoping it would help her just a little even though she had no idea how to use it. She grimaced and glanced around. Just as she did, a pirate came up behind her. His arm went around her throat, giving her only enough air to breath but nothing more. She struggled for a few moments against his strength, not getting anywhere close to succeeding.

She blacked out without a clue what was going to happen to her next.
