The rain fell down on the mountain top, causing all residents to stay indoors, or in caves. The rain was causing even the trees to wilt under sheer pressure, in which the water dripped on those not lucky enough to find shelter.
A wail cut through the rain. It belonged to a slender woman with silver hair which held two ears— that were mostly common in female werewolves. She had been betrothed to her mate because of her beauty. The mate was in fact the leader of the pack, or what they called the 'alpha'. The only reason for him to marry was make him have a male heir. Someone who could keep his legacy alive after he passed away.
"How long does this take?!" He growled to the werewolf blocking his view. The werewolf shrugged and went inside the cave. It was one thing to wait outside in the rain, but another to wait to see his new son. His new strong might son.
"I.. uh... sir? You might want to come inside..." a young werewolf squeaked.
"Finally!" the alpha hissed. He moved quickly inside the cave to find his mate passed out and a werewolf holding a small figure. He chose the small figure over the fainted one.
"O...oh! Uh, sir, this is your new daughter!" He stammered, quickly removing his hand from the child's forehead. The alpha silently cursed and took the child. The child wiggled in his arms. The werewolf who was previously holding the child scampered out of the cave. The alpha followed his path after the nervous werewolf was out of sight.
"A daughter? What kind of mate would disobey my command?" the alpha bellowed—not loud enough to be heard over the rain, of course, "How should I do away with this... child?" The alpha started to scamper down from the camp, into the forest surrounding Syadi Mountain. The forest held many wild animals—mostly bears—but none as fierce as the Syadi Pack. Even the humans in the Golden City feared them. Yet the king chose the ruthlessly extinguish every single werewolf he came across.
Golden City! The idea scrunched inside the alpha's head. The king that ruled there despised werewolves and is known to kill werewolves who picked even a flower off his land. If he left the babe there, she wouldn't survive past the first day. Good riddance. The alpha's mind floated to his wife, who would be in despair to find her first-born child dead. He would make up a story, any story, just so she could rest easy and try again.
The alpha transformed into a sleek silver body with four legs—a wolf— that was carrying the child in his mouth. His paws hit against wet grass and mud. The alpha didn't stop until he saw the giant walls of Golden City. It was then he changed his form. The walls of the 'golden city' weren't gold, and they were flimsy. The king would rather spend his money on the sidewalks than the walls. After all, he was the king that definitely loved his beautiful world.
The werewolf scratched a weaker spot of the wall until it broke from the pressure of his claws. The king had a curfew for the residents inside the walls. The houses practically shone from the moon's light hitting the cobblestone pathways, which some held bits of gold in them. The alpha ignored all the beauty and glamor and ran in the shadows of the giant houses until he reached the castle's entrance.
"Zzz...zz" murmured a castle guard, who was half-alseep. His body slouched against the cobble wall. The alpha had no problem sneaking past him. What a lously guard. The werewolf's slim body helped him slip past the gate, in which he left the tiny baby girl on the doorstep of the giant gates before drawing an 'X' with his blood next to the babe. Her scent was already changing. Good. The silver moon shone above the tiny baby, causing the moonlight to hit her forehead. The baby started to fall alseep under the rain, after such a journey in a maw of a werewolf and in his weathered hands.
The alpha had reached the mountain in half the time that it took to get to the Golden City. He commanded to the werewolves that had seen him leave to keep quiet, otherwise they would be ripped to shreds. He came back into the cave where his wife lay on the rock ledge, being fed some sort of mushed up meat. Probably rabbit, for it was the easiest to be fed to werewolves in pain. The alpha had also said for the healer to say that the baby was lost, but she shouldn't worry. Tears were what stained her face after the response.
~The next morning~
"King Dilston! I found something in front of the g-gates." stammered an maid. The king looked over his papers and glanced at what the maid is holding.
"A baby? Who would dare leave a baby on castle grounds?! Get out of my sight, you and the child! No peasant should hope for their child to be favored!" The king exclaimed. The maid rushed out of the throne room with the baby girl. The maid came into the royal baby room- or whatever they called it- and placed the baby in a spare crib next to one being occupied by the new prince that the queen had birthed recently. The Queen didn't mind giving away spare cribs that she deemed 'unworthy'.
No one had noticed the star shape on the baby's head except the maid. When the maid leaned over the crib, the baby held her gaze like a mini lion. Or like a wolf.
"I guess I get to name you... Estrella!" The maid squealed, for never having a baby of her own. She looked positively brimming with joy. She wrote the name on a piece of paper above the baby's bed before leaving the room. Estrella didn't understand anything about the world, except that she was very hungry.
