Chapter 2

I know I should go see her before she leaves.But I wouldn't know what to say. I never thought of planning our last words. I find myself at a wooden door with two peace keepers out the front. "I'm here to see Katniss Everdeen please" I manage to get out.

"Right through here." the taller peace keeper says. I open the door and the hinges crack.

" Gale," she says

" katniss, when you're in the arena, get to a bow,"

"They may not have a_" she starts

" then make one, you know how to hunt." It's true, she can hunt. She's very good at it too.

" there's 24 of us Gale, only one comes out." She's right, again. But I keep trying to convince her that I believe in her, even if it's for my own sake.

" it's gonna be you, you're smarter than they are"

"Take care of them Gale, Don't let them starve." Then the two peace keepers come in and drag me out before I had the chance to tell her how I really feel. It could of been my last chance to tell I love her and Instead I told her a bunch of lies. What kind of best friend am I?

As I walk through the seam, I decide to drop by and see how the remains of the Everdeen Family is.

"Hello prim, Mrs Everdeen" Prim runs to me, her face wet with tears.

" she's gone, SHE'S GONE" Prim whispers into My jacket

" I know Prim , I understand, but hey, she'll come back, she does know how to hunt. You need to start giving you're sister some credit."

" will you bring us food?" She asks, with an edge of hope in her voice,

"Of course I will, you don't think I'm going to let you starve do you?" She shakes her head and bursts into tears again. Mrs Everdeen still stands in the corner, stiff as a rock, with her chin resting on her chest and her eyes locked on the floor. I don't know what my Mother would do if my brothers or I got reaped, she would probably spend the rest of her life grieving. My father already died in a mining accident a few years ago with Katnisses Father, our families don't need anything else to worry about. But of course we live in Panem so worry and fear control our lives, if we are living at all.

I decide to go hunting and get the Everdeens some dinner. Of course I need to feed my family as well, but we haven't just lost a family member and we have plenty of food because both me and my brother had to sign up for tesserae. So I leave for the woods and can't help myself use Katnisses bow.
