First Day;
As instructed by Marcus I wake up and head down to the pitch at precisely five o'clock in the morning, narrowly avoiding getting hexed by my dorm mate as I scrambled about our room gathering my practice clothes and my broom. Upon my arrival I see Marcus standing in the middle of the field, and only Marcus. "Oi, Flint!? Where's the rest of the bloody team?!" Marcus looks up and grins at me, having been expecting me to be early. "You know we don't start practice until six because breakfasts at seven thirty... but I also know you're annoyingly early so I figured you and I could run some chaser drills before your brothers, Pucey, and Montague get here." "Sounds to me like we only need another chaser, Cap." I know tryouts are going to be a bloody mess this year because thirty kids are going to be going for the only available position on the team. "Right you are! By my seventh year I expect my team to be mostly Weasley- your sisters a first year next year right?" "Yep." "Excellent- that means year after next I can sucker her into playing chaser for me then I'll have an unbeatable team."I roll my eyes at Marcus and remind him Ginny may not even be in Slytherin. "I've heard stories about your little sister from the twins- She'll be in Slytherin." Having decided we've wasted enough practice time talking about the future all star Slytherin Quidditch team we mount our brooms and head up into the air, Marcus with a quaffle tucked smartly under his arm. "First things first I want ten laps around the pitch on broom, then you're going to practice shooting on me. When the others get here I'm going to have the twins hit bludgers at you so you can practice dodging." I pale at the thought of the twins hitting at me but realize Marcus wouldn't dare actually let me get hurt, he swears up and down I'm going to carry the team this year. I hurriedly do my ten laps as Marcus takes up position in the rings, waiting on me to come take some shots on him. "Ready, Flint?!" "No, I'm picking daisies." I roll my eyes at his sarcasm and fly towards him, throwing the quaffle as hard as I can towards the left ring... knocking both Marcus and the Quaffle through the hoop.
"I bloody love you, Weasley!"
Month One;
After that first day of practice Marcus has been keeping an insanely close eye on me, he's worse than bloody Charlie ever was about watching over me. Marcus keeps thinking I'm going to injure my throwing arm if I pick up a bloody book he thinks is too heavy- which is why Graham Montague has become my personal assistant, at the request of Marcus, and now walks me to and from all my classes and packs my school bag for me... if Marcus thought it'd protect my throwing arm I bet he'd have Graham feed me my dinner too. Sitting with Adrian to my right, Daphne to my left, and Graham directly in front of me I cut into a piece of my steak and glance over at the Gryffindor table to glare at my younger brother; I'd over heard him bullying one of his housemates today and I am not happy with little Ronnie. "Come off it, Mia, It's not like he put his hands on her." Adrian says, his eyes following mine and landing on Ron. "I don't give a rats arse if he touched her or not! He knows better than to talk to a girl like that! She's not even at dinner!"Daphne puts her hand on my shoulder to comfort me around the same time the doors to the great hall are thrown open and Professor Quirrell comes in shouting about a troll in the dungeons... shite. Dumbledore tells all the houses to proceed back to their common rooms, apparently having forgotten our common room is in the dungeon. My housemates begin to panic to the twins and I hop on the table and shout to get everyone's attention. "Follow the three of us! We know a way to the commons!" As the three of us turn to lead our house back to the common room I glance at the crowd of Gryffindors and notice Ron and Harry are nowhere to be seen. Closing my eyes I take a deep breath and try to tell myself Ron wasn't stupid, and Percy would keep a better eye on him- until I remember which brothers I'm putting my faith into. FUCKING SHITE. I've gotta write Charlie. The twins open a passageway hidden in an abandoned corridor on the ninth floor and explain for people to sit down, cross their ankles, and slide down- the passage would shoot them into the Common room.
