You wanted to go out and see the mystery girl but there was just no opportunity for you to go out again. Your parents had gotten even crazier and demanded for you to start taking this crazy stuff so that you wouldn't get sick.
Your mom eased off on the lessons but your father decided to give you more responsibilities. Everything was piling up on you and you were close to another breaking point. You needed to see her again. She would get you to calm down.
You had no choice but to ask for someone's help. There was no way you would be able to sneak out without anyone helping you. She was about to head out of the door when you stopped her during a late night.
"Mary, could I talk to you about something."
She closed the door and turned to face you.
"Of course, My Lady. What did you want to talk about?"
"I need you help and I wouldn't be asking you if I wasn't so desperate." You took a deep breath and continued talking. You needed to trust that she wouldn't betray you. "I need your help to sneak out of the castle."
"My Lady, I'm sorry but I cannot. The king has specific orders to make sure you are to stay inside or be guided out with knights."
"I know, Mary but I need to get out of here. I need some fresh air. How would you feel if you were stuck in here your entire life with no way of knowing when you'll be allowed to get out on your own."
This got her to think. Mary had always felt bad for you as she saw that your parents were a little overprotective. The way you lived was no way for someone to live like it.
"I'll help you as long as you'll tell me where you'll be heading to."
"The town. I promise to be back before night. I just need you to cover for me. Trick my parents into believing that I'm out doing my duties while you trick my instructors. I promise to pay you for the trouble you will go through."
Mary took the longest time to answer. She knew that she could get thrown in jail if they ever discovered her trying to help the princess sneak out but she also needed the money.
"I'll help you. Just promise to be careful."
You promised and soon headed down the castle wall to try to find the baker's daughter. You passed by the bakery but didn't spot her as you did.
"I didn't think you would come."
She whispered to you while walking besides you.
"I wanted but I couldn't get away. My parents have gotten stricter."
"And more paranoid. They've increased surveillance in the town and around the castle. Come. I know a place where they won't find us."
You knew she could kill you if she wanted to but something about her made you trust her. She led you all the way until she had arrived one of the lakes. You hadn't noticed her carrying a basket until she started taking everything out.
"Why are you doing this?"
"Because I want to know more about you. No one knows anything about the princess other than the fact that they never let her out of the castle."
You began to stand up to leave not liking her answer but she took your hand and stopped you from getting up.
"Let me go. You're just using me."
"I didn't mean it like that." She sighs and moves closer to you, enough that her body was touching yours. "I just mean that I really like you and I want to get to know more about you."
You bit your lip, feeling the butterflies in your stomach flutter around. For the past couple of days, all you've been thinking about is pulling her in for a kiss and spending your day together. Not one to do things without permission, you figured this would be the one time that you wouldn't need it. You leaned in and kissed her.
After the kiss, the two of you began to eat and talk to be able to know more about each other. The food had been finished but neither of you wanted to get up so she leaned against a tree and had you sit between her legs so you could cuddle.
Soon enough, it was beginning to get dark and you knew that you needed to head out. Mary could only cover you for so much.
"I must go but I promise to not make you wait for so long."
"I'll wait for you as long as I have to."
You cupped her cheeks and gave her a long kiss before rushing back to your room. Mary was already waiting inside and seemed relieved the moment you stepped in. She didn't ask any questions as you gave her the gold coins and headed out after helping you dress.
The rest of the weeks had been much like today. Most days you would head out to meet with Katie and the rest you would try you best in the lessons so they wouldn't overwork you again. Every day that you spent with Katie made you fall deeper in love with her. You were scared as you knew such relationships were not allowed. You father was setting you up to get married to a prince and you knew it was just a matter of time before he sent you away. You didn't want to tell Katie about it but the guilt just kept piling up after visiting her for so long. You promised yourself to eventually tell her but for the moment, you just wanted to stay in her arms.
