I walk down the street to the rhythm of the music that was blasting in my head through my headphones. The night was cold and my hands were in my pockets trying to stay warm. I should have worn a warmer jacket.
I walk to the park where my mom used to always take me. Luckly, my house wasnt that far away.
I sat down on the swing and was scrolling through my music. Song after song, I just couldn't find one I wanted to listen to. I sigh. I'm going to have to make something up.
I think about lyrics right off the top of my head and the beat of the rhythm. It all comes to me at once. My foot taps to the beat and I just sing.
'Momma always said. You gotta pick up your head, because theirs a whole world waiting for you..'
'But she left one day with no good-bye and the your world just split in two..'
The lyrics just rolled off my tounge and I make the beat up as I go. My whole body starts to move and sways as I sing my thoughts.
'Daddy always said you gotta be the best, and thats what you gonna do.'
'But momma said goodbye and daddys love and laugh left and never looked back, now my heart's broken too-'
"What song is that?" I quickly cut off as I hear someone say. I turn around to see a nimble old women standing holding an unbrella over her.
"Oh.. Umm" I feel embarased. "I.. I just made it up off the top of my head." I say
"Oh really? Well dear child you have a special talent. I was fooled to think that was an actual song and you voice is just so" she pauses. "I havent heard a voice that sweet and flawless since Marilyn Monroe."
I blush from the compliment. "Thanks.. but honestly I dont think I have that kind of talent." I say.
"Ohh but you do deary. If you dont mind me asking, what is such a young lady doing here this late?"
I freeze up. I cant actually tell her the truth. Why can't I come up with lies as good as I do with song lyrics and melodies?
"I- uhh. I wanted to go out for a little walk. My house was really stuffy and walking helps me sleep." I say. I think to myself 'really? I hate anythign that has to do with excersice! and a stuffy house? Its that the best I could come up with?!'
"Ohh.." The ladies face turns serious. Then she smiles again. "Well dont stay out too late."
"Uhh.. Ma'm.. If I may ask. Why do you have an unbrella?" I asked.
"Becuase its raining deary." She says and smirks.
Just then I feel a drop of water fall on my face, Then another. I look up at the sky and it suddenly starts to pour. I get soaked. I go back to look at the old lady and shes already gone. I look around to see if she was still near by but I didn't see anything. I put my hood up along with my headphones and run under the big tree in the middle of the park.
This tree was huge, kids climed up on it all the time. I have always came to this place since I was younger, This place was always like a safe haven for me.
I climbed up the tree, luckily the tree's brush was thick enough to keep me dry from the rain, although since my hands were already wet trying to get out of the rain and to the tree, it was a struggle to climb.
I grabbed onto a hole in the tree and my hand slipped, causing me to fall back down the the ground.
I smack into the ground, with a stinging sensation coursing throughout my hands.I look and my hands are all scratched up and on the verge of bleeding. My hands were so cold, it made the pain in my hands seem worse than it really was. I take a breath and I wipe my hands off on my jacket and climb back up. Trying to ignore the throbbing pain in my hands.
I climb back up onto a branch that I was really thick, so I could easily be cradled by the tree and fall alseep.
I rest there, hearing the ran patter against the leaves on the tree and the ground below. My headphones hang around my neck as soothing music plays in the backround of the rain. I quickly dooze off to sleep.
