The black-haired man breathed deep as he looked at his crying baby daughter, reminiscing and only wishing he had been better than this;and thus he started to sing:
"Hush, little baby, don't say a word.
Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird
And if that mockingbird won't sing,
Papa's gonna buy you a diamond ring"
The screech of the wheels of the van racing onwards on the hard road made him stop for a bit, at least happier that the baby had calmed down. And thus he began to sing again.
"

...And if that diamond ring turns brass,
Papa's gonna buy you a looking glass
And if that looking glass gets broke,
Papa's gonna buy you a billy goat.."
Knocks from the window that separated him and the driver demand for silence surely did make fine background noise, and thus he continued to sing.
"..And if that billy goat won't pull,
Papa's gonna buy you a cart and bull
And if that cart and bull turn over,
Papa's gonna buy you a dog named Rover"
His heart was pumping in his chest, his breath frantic as he still continued to painfully sing.
"And if that dog named Rover won't bark
Papa's still here for the mark
...And even if we'll die real soon,
Mama's gonna wait for us on the moon"
