Chapter 9

Alex's pov:

"Oliver, what in Merlin's name are you doing in here?"

"I can explain. You see, I, um..." He was acting very awkward, and maybe, nervous?

"I fell asleep during transfiguration, I may or may not have kissed a rat, and now I'm here." Wait. Did he say kissed a rat! Eww, that's disgusting!

"Ollie, I'm not going to ask why you kissing a rat solely on the fact I need to get to defence. But I expect a full story at lunch. Got it?" He nodded.

"Got it."

"Okay class, today we will be learning about boggarts. Does anyone know what a boggart is?" My hand and Hermione's shot up.

"Oh, yes, Alex!" Lupin called on me.

"A boggart is a creature that turns into your worst fear."

"Very good Ms. Snape! Now, let me teach you how to defeat a boggart. Think of something funny then cast the spell ridikkulus. Everyone say that with me; ridikkulus."

"Ridikkulus!" The class shouted.

"Excellent! Now, Mr. Longbottom, will you come here please." Neville did as he was told. Professor Lupin talked to him for a moment, then released the boggart. It took the form of Snape. Neville's biggest fear is my dad?

"Ridikkulus!" Neville cast the spell and the boggart-Snape was wearing grandma clothes! Even though I love and respect my father, I had to admit that was pretty funny. It helped lighten the mood from my run in with Ollie. Oliver. Just his name put a frown on my face. Why was he so difficult!

"Ms. Snape, will you go next?" Professor Lupin looked at me.

"Yes sir." I didn't know my greatest fear, but here goes. When I stepped up to the boggart, it turned into my father. Not Snape, my real father. He was standing above Snape.

"Crucio!" Sirius shouted. I saw my father, the man who raised me, withering on the floor. I tried to save him, but I couldn't.

"Ridikkulus!" I heard Lupin say. "Alex, would you like to go freshen up, I'll write you a hall pass."

"Yes sir." He went to his desk, wrote something on a piece of parchment, and handed it to me. I walked out of the room and into the girl's lavatories. I sat down and cried. What if that was what my father did when I met him? Snape is too important to me! I can't lose him.
