Whimberly Coltwright was a pretty interesting character. She was NOT like the girls her age. She didn't want to cook and clean, and she most certainly didn't take any crap from the boys at school, Or the girls for that matter. She just wanted to go into the forest amd explore! She didn't even have parents, because they were not ready for kids. She stayed with her grandparents and had no wish to leave, and she never wanted to meet her mother. Her grandmother, Winifred, only had bad things to say about her mother.
"That whore probably doesn't even know who poor Whimberly's father is. She must have slept with every willing man in town." Whimberly had heard her grandmother telling the neighbor. It hadn't even effected Whimberly at the time. When she started school, she had trouble making friends with other girls. She got along better with the boys, because they had similar interests as her. Whimberly had met a boy named Nolan Hallman who she got along with, and he lived near her, so they would always go outside and play while his mother had tea with Winifred. In fact, she had to get her chores done so she could leave the house before dark!

Whimberly closed her book and headed down the stairway. She grabed the broom and started sweeping the house. Then she did the laundry and cleaned all the dishes. Her sister, Gail, would be cooking supper, so Whimberly wouldn't need to worry about that. Once she had finished the dishes, she got ready to go outside. Practically racing up the stair way, she retrieved an old green dress that she wore on adventures. It was easy to wash and durable, so that made it perfect for running around outside. She ran back downstairs and put a pair of sheoes on. She nearly hit Gail with the door as she darted outside, shouting an apology before turning around and heading towards the tree line.
