“I am your father, Puke!” was what Pinigo had whispered in Kite’s ear. Distraught and confused by this news, Kite ran as fast as he could from the spot where he had encountered the figure who could be his father.

He stopped when he was on the very edge of the Sea of Dreams and Bananas. He stopped, out of breath and panting when out of nowhere, Pinigo appeared. BUT DID HE? In fact because he was in the Sea of Dreams and Bananas he was in fact floating on a banana boat inside a dream. He did not know how to get out. In his dream, Pinigo approached him.

“My child,” he said, and opened his arms. Kite walked into them freely, but then punched Pinigo in the face.

Because Kite had been abandoned as a child he had a defense mechanism inside of him which caused him to punch anyone who tried to hug him. This caused him many problems in life. Pinigo punched him back affectionately, and they felt the unbreakable bond of a father and a son. The sky was a deep gold, and the two figures threw shadows on to the smooth sand, as dolphins jumped lazily over the calm waves in the distance. Pinigo told Kite of his brief affair with Pebble. Pebble, it turned out, was a GIRL. When she had joined the army, she became a man; because she had always had low self-esteem issues and being a man made her feel manly. In the army, Pebble ruthlessly killed people and punched them. He was a successful army man, and was promoted to a captain. He drove trucks across deserts but one day he got shot in the head and DIED. But Miracle Maxina brought him back. That’s how he was still alive, and that’s how he survived to give birth to Kite.

“I hate you, Pinigo,” Kite said to Pinigo. “You left me as a child, and I resent you for that.”

He ran away, with Pinigo standing there forlornly, wondering what he did wrong. Then he turned. Pinigo’s eyes lit up with a desperate hope. He said, “I know I left you. But I could not stay. I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.” At this moment, Kite wanted run, and forgive his father in a long embrace. He wanted to say that he was sorry too, that he never meant to hurt Pinigo…

But he didn’t. He turned and walked away. Pinigo, broken, sat, and started to weep.

Kite ran as fast as he could away from Pinigo, out into the sunset and over the hills, far, far away. He turned and saw the faint silhouette of Pinigo, hunched over, his broad penguin shoulders full of despair. He thought for a moment. Maybe he could actually forgive Pinigo for what he had done. A dim hope caused him to stop and look at the sky. The stars were coming out and there was a vague shape of a penguin in one. Kite considered it for a while….a happy family, like he always wanted….

“NO!” he yelled, kicking the dirt with his little feelers.

A little while back, Pinigo heard the cry. He knew that Kite had deep internal conflict, and knew it was his job as his father to comfort him. The fatherliness inside of him drove him to start to journey across the hills in the same direction as Kite. The rain started to fall, abolishing Kite’s pathetic attempts to begin a fire. He sat, shivering, trying to remember his past. Had his life been a lie? The only thing he could recollect was a giant dragon grinning malevolently at him. But that could have been a dream.

He shivered in the cold wet darkness of the night, climbing up a tree and settling into the foliage. Confused and angry thoughts clouded his mind and as he thought about them more and more he found he was falling asleep….

A younger Pinigo and Pebble are seen holding guns and crawling in the under bush. They look tough and hardened, and their reactions are quickly tested when a gunshot echoes in the distance. Pinigo looks at Pebble, who has a sad look on her face….
